Super Anxious over chest veins?!

I was in the bathtub and I have noticed I have large veins on my chest and breast area that show up big and blue when in the bathtub and it is only on the left side, also after and during a shower and it is completely freaking me out cry

Of course I have googled... saw heart disease, and all that fun stuff. The show all on my upper left chest into my arm and I am completely freaked out, just when I thought I was feeling better :(. Anyone else have this? Could my anxiety be doing this? Is is a heart problem? Or is it just from the heat. I am driving myself nuts again!

Oh no, not google!! It only leads to scary things for us with anxiety...actually even those without it! I have heard of many people who don't tend to worry about their health getting freaked out by symptom searching!

Here are a few reason that you may have noticed this vein issue. One you already mentioned...the hot water. This will cause your blood vessels to dialate in an attempt at cooling the core of the body. In constrast, when cold, blood vessels constrict...this is all part of the heating and cooling system.:)

Another contributing factor is that it is the middle of winter, and you are probably at your palest...any summer color is long gone, (unless you tan in a bed) so your veins are going to be much more noticeable.

The other thing that it could possibly be is hormonal. Depending on where you are in your cycle, breast tissue swells due to hormone fluctuations. This is naturally going to make you look more vascular.

Try not to worry about it. Remember all of the other scares that you have had in the past that have turned out to be nothing to be concerned about. Think of this as another attempt by your anxious brain to scare you...and decide that you are not going to let it!

I am pale as a ghost. And I have lots of vein action in the shower. At first it bugged me. But now that I've noticed them for years now. Its no longer a bother. And yes more so on the left than the right.

Just chalked it up to being very pale.

I can see my veins in my chest as well and have always been able to. I am very fair complected. Maybe thats why you can see yours. I agree google and webMD are not places for people with anxiety to go!
