Hello, New here, My counselor recommended 0.5 knopolin 3 times a day instead ofwhen needed. I was having panick attacks. my doctor wants me to cut back? I am also on 10 mg lexapro 9 week and toprol 50 mg? confused. i don't want to be addicted to knopolin

Hi slester and welcome!

I am sorry that you are feeling confused by your Rx options at this time. It must be frustrating to be getting two different answers from your two care providers!

Is there anyway that your counselor and your doctor could talk/e-mail and reach a decision together that makes them both happy and will benefit you?

Of course at the end of the day, the decision is ultimately yours. Here are a few questions that you may want to ask yourself:

*Have I made any gains in self-calming during my panic attacks through coping mechanisms like breathing/relaxation/positive mantras? (this could allow you to take the benzo on an as needed basis, rather than regularly)

*Do I have a history of dependency/addiction...or does it run in my family (you may or may not have a risk factor for becoming dependent on the Klonopin)

*Am I feeling better since starting the SSRI? (you may just now be reaching the theraputic level, and you could find the benzo may not be necessary to take everyday.)

Hello, Thank-you for the reply i have cut back on the knopolin to twice a day. I am a recovering alcoholic 26 years this month. I feel weaning off the knopolin is what I need to do . Thanks for your help. Have a blessed day.

Congratulations on your long time sobriety! That is a great accomplishment, any yes, I can see how you would want to do everything you can to keep from risking any issues with your current medication...so your cutting back on the Klonopin is a wise choice.:)
