Hi everyone. I'm having trouble clarifying what exactly is going on with me. I have a very horrible fear of schizophrenia, going crazy, psychosis, whatever you want to call it. This last week has seriously sucked for me. I have these strange thoughts but I don't have them unless iM worried about having them or the thought of going crazy pops up in my head. Its like I'm asking myself to make sure I do t believe them and they don't become delusions. But every time it happens it gets more frightening, I'm hoping I'm not going g crazy and that its just me being worried about it. I'd much rather have a fear of liver disease or something, this is absolutely terrifying. Can someone help me figure this out????

First go to a doctor that you trust, tell your story, ask for therapy, then put his recommendations into
practice. Then come back here and tell us what the Dr. said, he may recommend meds, once you have
this data there will be many people here who have been told the same thing and some who use the same
meds. There is a gold mine of help here but first we need your doctors input.
Don't be afraid of the meds they are for helping you with your thinking and will not hurt you, last but not
least dont go to google or some med web site they will only complicate rational thought.

Thank you Larry but I'm just severely worried this is something I will have to live with forever and I will have a horrible life

Not so Echo, there is just some hoops that need to be jumped through for people here to start trying to
help, we cannot diagnose or recommend meds, however we can tell you our experiences and share what
we take, even medical tests we have had.
I am a 71 year old male, I have had PAD over half my life, heart surgery, blind in right eye, def in right ear, shot three times, etc. in short I have done a lot and seen a lot, you're not even close to acting or talking like some really crazy people I have known. One thing that stands out is you really care, people who I know that are having those problems don't think theres anything wrong with them, they are convinced everyone else has a problem. Don't be dismayed by being young, your personality has not even stabilized yet, trust me when your 25 you will look back and wonder what you were thinking about. For now get a doctors opinion then come back here and a lot of people will tell you they have had the same problem. We can help, we will help, we need you to do your part.

I cannot tell you how many times my panic attacks are a result of worrying about having a panic attack. Distraction is a great tool in these circumstances for me. And i have real ALOT about anxiety/panic and they will tell you "crazy people" don't think they are "crazy" or "going crazy". It is a normal fear. I have felt this way so many times. I've had to seek treatment twice due to panic attacks. I learned alot of tools there. I completely understand you, in the whirlwind of a panic attack i too often wonder if im going crazy myself. Of course i am to a certain extent, LOL. I do hope you find some comfort..and your definately not alone. At one time or another i obsess about one certain thing being wrong until i move on to the next. I have health ocd as well so it gets really bad. I agree with larry also, talk to your Dr about it. Most of the time they do understand.

My anxiety originates from fear of going crazy, its my worst fear and I don't want to end up like that. Does anyone know if its possible to eventually worry so much about it or get in too deep that I actually will go crazy???

Well, I'm only 71, but I have never heard of it.
In the mean time you can really make yourself miserable.
Just try and deflect your thinking a little each time,
force yourself to do something constructive, just to prove you can.

You will get a little stronger each time you try!

My fears are based on health issues...like getting a dreaded disease.

What would you say to me if I told you that I was scared that I had a brain tumor or MS simply based on the fact that I was scared of this happening to me? You would say:

"Your fears don't always represent reality."

Or somthing to that affect right?

You can't 'make' something happen just by worrying/dwelling on it. If we could...I think a lot of people would start 'fearing' winning the lottery!;p

Keep telling yourself that this is just anxiety, and that with some work, you can have victory over it!
