So, I med with a psychiatrist today. I was dreading the appt but she turned out to be very nice; nothing at all like when I initially saw a psychiatrist 6 years ago. Back then it was so clinical and I felt like I was being interrograted for a reason NOT to put me in the nuthouse. *LOL*
Well, the intresting thing this time, is that while I was previously diagnosed with GAD, she doesn't think I have that at all. She thinks my problems are more reactive, possible even related to PTSD from my emergency surgery and chronic illnesses. She also thinks I might have a serotonin regulation issue/low thryoid and vit. D deficiency in winter--so more or less almost like SAD. So all very interesting. You know, I never felt like I ever really fit the textbook GAD picture anyway. This makes so much more sense to me.
She is looking to get me into a meditation group course--I think that will really help. She also recommeded 3000 mg/day of omega-3s.
