I do the deep breathing at night and fall asleep. I haven't done the visualization technique. Last week I went to my acupuncturist, he told me he could help me. As I was coming in there was a woman he was talking to, after she had left he told me she had the same exact thing as me except worse. Everybody says that, I don't know how they know if they were worse, he wasn't in her body to see how she felt. Well then he continued to tell me that it took a year for her to get better. Ugh!!!!!!!!!

Well hey atleast you are not the only one to get through this but you do know that you CAN. And that's the most important thing to know. Duration doesn't matter at all it's how committed you are to fixing it. And thank you so much Larry! I felt good running to my friends and I will do my best to face my fear tomorrow!

But you have it inside of you though. You just got to bring it to the surface instead of locking it in the jail cell in your mind. Just a little positive thinking can work wonders.

You're the best, you are such a kind and considerate soul! It's hard to find positive thinking in my world, I wish I could insert a disk to my brain to change my thoughts.

It may be hard to break because you've been used to the negative for so long but if you work at it little by little you'll get there I know it:)

And may I say that you should go back to your forum because SC left some pretty good advice that I couldn't put in any better way.

I've been through a lot lately and people have always said I'm a very positive person for what I'm going through. Keep your chin up and think positive.

I try to stay positive but HT here may need a little bit more encouragement to stay thinking positively.

Unfortunately I did not run today.... When I got to gym my anxiety was acting up and the catastrophic thoughts running through my head and I didn't go through with it.... I am really disappointed in myself for not getting it over with and am depressed...

Some day when no one is watching, just go run for yourself, it amounts to the same thing for you,
we already know you can!

You will! I had to get over my fear of exercising...I really had no choice since I am an athlete by trade...I couldn't
not work!
I had some exercising fears when my anxiety was at it's highest, because (big suprise!) I thought something must be wrong with my heart.
My fears were the opposite as yours however...I had to exercise for work, so I wasn't concerned then...it was when I was alone and training that I thought I would drop dead.
I eventually got over my fears through a combination of therapy and self-help. I also practiced doing a little more and more of facing the things that frightened me...basically doing exposure therapy on my own, until my brain got the message that the excercise was not going to kill me.
Keep working toward your goals...they will happen!;)

Yeah thanks Larry! I am a little sore but it's not that bad I can fight through it. But I'm just glad I finally did it. I was talking to my gym teacher about
when I should make it up then he mentioned that I can do it today and I was skeptical about
that, but when I'm on the track I'm saying to myself Josh no more running away lets do this. And then I told my teacher that I wanted to do it and I ran the whole way through. Never walked once.

Awesome!!!!! :) ;) :) ;)
Now if you 'run' (no pun intended!) into this fear again, you can look back and know that you can handle it...you just proved it to yourself that you can do it, and with a positive outcome...and none of the things that you feared happened!
Great job!

One thing I should note though. Surprisingly I wasn't like super happy that I completed the mile. Other than trying to catch my breath I really Didn't think to much of it. I mean I'm glad that I got it over with but you know I just don't know.

Anticlimactic, that's because deep inside you knew you could do it! Very well done!
