I have had anxiety over 10 years now. The last six months it has become chronic and much worse. I started having pains in my sternum area off and on, and at least every day.
After a lot of tests for various things, I finally went and saw a therapeutic massage therapist who knows the muscles, tissues and organs like the back of his hand. He has done a lot of myofascial release and the sternum pain has disappeared!
You would be amazed at how restricted you become fascia wise as an anxious person. We hunch, clench, grind, gnash, squeeze and tighten up our muscles and bodies without even realizing it!
I would be willing to bet if you have a few sessions with an extremely knowledgable myofascial therapist you could eliminate the pain.
I hope you feel better soon!!
