Hi Sand Kitten,
I'm sorry you are feeling this way. Anxiety is such a hell when it wants to be right? It makes it even more difficult when the people in our lives don't understand. In fact, they have no idea of how we feel or what goes on in the body or the mind during an anxiety attack. Anxiety expresses itself in really discouraging ways some times, I know yesterday I kind of lashed out at a colleague when I become over-whelmed and frustrated. At the same time, I have to make sure to keep my anxiety in check because I don't want it to affect my family. I told my wife about it and she is so far as understanding as anybody could be. It's so hard to keep ones anxiety in check, but instead of feeling bad, you should just accept what happened, maybe even apologize to your father in law. It will help you move on from this thought of feeling bad.
Dwelling on what happened and thinking about how bad you feel or what you did or how you father in law feels and might make you feel worse and worse.
People might stop trying to help or understand...but we are here to support you. We all understand what you are going through.
I use positive affirmations every day, today's affirmation is a little cheesy but it's "I feel like a super
star!" To me that's 100x better than "I feel bad".
I hope things work out between you and your father in law and your husband. Family support is crucial and I'll be rooting for you today that you will be feeling better again very soon!
Joshua
