head pressure and dizziness

I Have been gone a couple weeks and when I pulled up the site, I saw your post and was shocked, Cause I have been having the same problem. But I get so dizzy it makes my stomach start feeling pretty bad!!! But I have not tried to take anything for it, I just keep hoping it will go away! I am starting to think it mush be a sinus thing cause my head above my eyes feels real bad.

I really hope you get to feeling better, Sorry I could not be of much help, But I would say if you have pain around your eyes or in your face its probably sinus.

There is no cough but a little pain around eyes.There is no stuffy or runny nose that is why it scares me because it is not the average sinus infection I kinda wish it was then I could deal with it.I do have post nasal drip but that is it. Anyway thank you for replying crying and btflnvy I reall appreciate it.

I am sorry that you are going through this...it is tough, I know. Is this your first experience with anxiety and its symptoms?

I am wondering why your doctor prescribed the Meclizine. Were you given a diagnoses of vertigo? Is your doctor aware of your panic attacks...and was anxiety treatment even mentioned?

I ask because the Rx you were given may treat the symptom of dizzyness...but it is not going to get at the root of the issue which is most likely anxiety.

I would encourage you to go back and discuss your treatment options with your doctor. Therapy and/or medication are both very effective in dealing with anxiety.

I was relieved of my panic attacks with the help of a type of therapy called CBT. I can really recommend finding someone to help you through this, and your doctor may be able to refer you.

The other thing that I recommend is to try breathing exercises. Often when we are anxious, without knowing that we do so, we hyperventilate. Not to the point of passing out....but certainly enough to get dizzy and with 'heavy headed' feelings. (other indications include tingling/numbness around the body)

We have some great self-help ideas, including breathing practices in our Resource Guide (main page 1st post) Give these a try 2x a day for a week and see how you feel.

Thanks for the quick response. YES, this is my first time ever experiencing all these symptoms. I used to joke at ppl with anxiety problems and tell them its all in their mind. WRONG..Ironically I now have those symptoms. I know its my mind but DAYUM...very hard to get rid of now.

And yes, my dr did some test and diagnosed me with a slight case of vertigo. My dr is aware of my panic attacks and gave me alprazolam (xanax) and buspirone. I most likely need therapy and maybe stronger or better medication to deal with my anxiety. CBT sounds like what I need.

I've seen some other stuff on the internet that will guarantee you being free from anxiety but you have to pay for that program, but i'm not the richest guy and from the reviews i've seen, they are most likely scams.

The Xanax should help your anxiety. At least it will stop a full blown panic attack, I don't know the strength or dose your Dr. gave you, but it doesn't take much to achieve results. I used to be on 0.5 mg strength, the bottle said to take 1-2 per day, I would have been a zombie if I took that much!........I would cut them in 4ths and use 1/4 pill in the am and another in the evening. I am small in weight and it was enough for me.
Since you are larger, depending on the mg you have, I would definitely adjust the strength down a bit. It does really help.
