Does Pooping out of medication typically happen when someone finds the maximum dose of a medication (antidepressant) not effective?

It does not necessarily happen at the maximum dose...although this is often the case, since the dosage is often bumped up to offsett what it considered tolerance issues.

However, some meds just stop working for some individuals at any levels, and the cause is not really known.

I was going to respond to your other Rx post anyway...so if you don't mind, I will just make a suggestion here?

If you are worried about upping your Effexor, and possible panic problems that it may (or may not, think positive!) cause...why not ask your doctor about a back up benzodiazepine Rx for any breakthrough anxiety...just in case?

Benzos can be taken on an as needed basis, so this could be just the thing if you experience a limited acute panic episode due to your increase.

Just and idea to think about.

I thought about that but I figured I'd wait and see what happens. If I get an increase in anxiety when I bump it up tomorrow I'll call my doctor. I'm really hoping the additional 37.5 mg's doesn't do harm.

You will still be on the lower side of the dose for Effexor XR. I would try not to worry about it and just go with the flow. I know you will do fine!!! The medicine has been in your system for some time and bumping it up a little will probably just take that extra edge off that you need!!

We are all here for you whenever you need us! I am thinking of you and keeping you in my thoughts and prayers!!

Glad you went for it and didn't hesitate. I know you will do fine!! I am also glad that you aren't feeling any ill effects from increasing...but you really shouldn't because it has been in your system for so long...

If anything, you will only notice the benefits of feeling better!!!

Thanks. Yes the second day here. Not really noticing much of a change .... I'm still having the anxiety of anticipating a panic attack. Have to work tonight! =(

Try not to anticipate...I know, it's easier said than done. But I am glad you are hanging in there.

My anxiety has been bothering me yesterday and today...I was going to start my increase to 150 mg today, but my husband forgot to pick it up last night, so tomorrow I will increase my dose. Ugh.

I'm trying to hang in there. At work now! Let me ask you when you were on 150mg before were you ok as far as the anxiety etc.

When I was on the 150 mg of Effexor XR before, yes, I did wonderful on it...I don't remember having a panic attack or the anxiety that I have now...I would get your typical nervousness if something was coming up, like a party that I had to plan for my kids, etc...but I never thought about the anxiety, had the racing thoughts, nothing. I was able to do anything I wanted to without even thinking about it...I never worried about having a panic attack or anything!!

Are you having symptoms from increasing?? I hope not and that you are feeling well!!!

Isn't that a great feeling. Not having to worry about anxiety. Seriously you will be better in no time!
I pray this increase to 112.5 will do the trick. I don't want the "mechanism of action to change" I can't go through a med switch right now. :-(
And I won't be drink hard liquor or alcohol anymore. And will take the meds everyday....

Yes, it definitely is a great feeling. I don't think you have to worry about switching meds...I bet your increase helps you more than you are thinking it will! I hope you are having a good night at work and not having anxiety. I am glad to hear that you are going to take your Effexor everyday too, you have to in order for you to benefit from it!!!

Work was decent. Had some anxiety but not bad. Talked more w/ my coworkers and tried to engage! Blasted some music on the highway coming home. Hopefully its the start of a brand new !
