Stopping Klonopin with Neurontin and Remeron

Hey everyone,

So I've been on Klonopin .5 mg 2 to 3 times a day and I've decided to quit as it has been almost 3 months now and I am worried about becoming physically addicted to it. I probably am already and I've discussed this with my doctor, he believes I should get off Klonopin asap and has perscribed me Neurontin (Gabapentin) for the withdrawal of Klonopin and Remeron (Mirtazapine) for help sleeping and to boost the effect of the Cipralex 15mg I also take.

Has anyone else used these medications too? Are they helpful?
I am worried to change, I am actually thinking of not listening to my doctor and slowly trying to taper off Klonopin gradually without the use of anything else.

Any advice?

I do not have experience with is personally, but this site it a trusted one, and has a lot of good advice on weaning from benzodiazepine use.

Anyone else know if Neurontin and Remeron work?

Remeron is consider one of the meds that can pull someone up out of a dark depression and it does come with side effects.  One of the uses of Remeron is drowsiness which some physicians use to help people with insomnia.

Sound like your Dr. knows what he is doing.

I would definitely listen to your doc's advice, but I was on Neurontin for a while for anxiety. It worked "pretty well" for me. Never took Remeron though.

Hey all,

So I've taken Neurontin and Remeron and I feel okay, no withdrawal symptoms of Klonopin yet. It's been around 30 hours since my last pill. I slept well at night, but had a few hypnic jerks, I'm guessing it's a side effect of getting used to Remeron. I've been reading up online that Cipralex, Gabapentin and Remeron are indeed a combination a lot of psychiatrists use for patients suffering from heavy anxiety.
