Something has to be wrong this pain is so constant and so unpleasant to deal with how can they say its not my heart when they havent done a chest xray or an mri on my heart all they have done is two ekgs (one being a 24 hour) I get so annoyed that no one is listening to me and ordering the tests I ask to have done, an ekg is not the best test for heart problems so why wont they help me. I just dont want to be one of those cases of too little too late.

An EKG and a 24 hour monitor will tell a lot about your heart. Have you done a Stress Echo? That is the next step.

I hope you get some relief.

My doctor will not order one as he says there is no need for one

My doctor was/is the same way.  He says there is nothing wrong with my heart, but since there is a lot of heart disease in my family, I can't beleive it is all anxiety.

I scheduled an appointment with one of the best Cardiologists around (I didn't need a referral).  He took blood, ekg (abnormal), echo, stress test and echo again.  Blood and echo came back as "beautiful" in his words.  The abnormal EKG he said could have been a fluke due to misplacement or just my "typical", but since the other tests were fine, he deemed me as having a healthy heart.

From there I was ready to accept that it was anxiety.  Until I went to the emergency room with classic heart attack symptoms....test all said it was not hear related.  They took blood, EKG and chest exray.

Off to the gastro doc I go....I do a barium swalllow and it show I have relux back up way into my throat.  I also need to get an endoscopy because the barium pill got stuck 4 times in my esophagus.

Can you go out on you own and get some tests?  Check with the specialists and insurance company.

Even with all these tests, I still have a hard time accepting it's anxiety.

I had an EKG a few years back. I was scared about some new, more intense palps that I had felt while exercising.

It turned out completely clear, and when I asked if there was an explanation for my palpitation issue, my doctor simply explained that many people have them...but not everyone feels them.

I have a theory that those of us with anxiety are either more sensitive to our bodies functions/sensations, or we magnify them through our anxiety filters...either way, we go on 'red alert' where most people disregard, or take little notice.

This of course perpetuates the symptom=anxiety=more symptoms cycle.

An echo cardiogram was offered to me after my EKG. After asking my doctor if HE thought it was necessary...I refused it. He told me that the EKG was sufficient for him to know that I was healthy...so I chose to believe that and let the worry go.

I hope that you are feeling better soon. Use those coping skills, and try to trust that you are going to be fine.

Guys, almost everyone on here with health anxiety refuses to believe they are ok, at least in the early
days of their condition, i'm just the opposite I know I have heart disease and would give everything I
own for even a dumb doctor to tell me it was anxiety. Peace
