Liking Wellbutrin but needing more

Hi there, Ive been on prozac and zoloft for depression before with a low dose .25 xanax. Ive stayed on the xanax as needed but been off ssri for almost a year. I needed a new anti depressant but didnt want the sexual side effects. Ive been on wellbutrin for 6 weeks and have had lots of energy and lost some weight ( yay) but my anxiety is worse and im crying more. My dr prescribed 10 mg paxil because its cheaper than lexapro, but Ive read so many bad stories of paxil esp the withdrawal and sexual\weight gain side effects. It frightens me. Anyone have any input on what goes best with wellbutrin? Depression and anxiety (daily) being the problem. Thank you kindly :-)

I'm unfamiliar with those drugs except for Xanax (which I currently take).

The only advice I have is to sit down and write out your hopes/expectations for your medication; then, write down your fears about your medication. Try to rank each list by priority.

Take those lists with you to the doctor and hopefully that will help you two work together to find the best medication for you.

Thank you BeRock, I actually discussed these hopes and fears today (actually i hadnt researched paxil but i had many others) my dr was confident with her choice and said if it didnt feel right or work we could try something else. then i got home and freaked myself out by reading comparisons and reviews online.

I think im just having a hard time accepting that i have to take 2 medications. I feel weak and embarrassed that i am not strong enough to get over this hump.

i think ill try the paxil and fingers crossed its a subtle fix. i will see my dr in 2 weeks.

Ahhh, I'm on three meds right now just for my depression/anxiety/psychosis issues, and they plan to add two more at the end of the month.

It took me a while to accept that, but when it comes down to it, it's not weakness to get the help you know you need - it's a demonstration of strength. It demonstrates that you have the strength to take care of yourself. It shows you have the strength to take care of your health despite stigma. It shows you have the strength to do what is best for the people around you.

You aren't weak - you're strong.

I do have a dear friend who takes paxil and trust me, she hasn't suffered sexual side effects. The force is strong with that one. lol

Thank you, Ill try to remind myself of that :) and its nice to hear some positive things about paxil. i never gained weight on prozac or zoloft so hopefully thats the case with this too. Im hoping wellbutrin will counter the sexual effects because its great at boosting the lobido :)

I wish you the best if finding the med that works well for you. It can be a lot of trial an error as you know...but stick to it and I am sure you will find the one with the most benefits and least unwanted s/e's.

I took 10 mg of paxil today along with my wellbutrin and it feels like I've eaten 4 muscle relaxers. i feel so doped up still and i took it 12 hours ago. I will not be taking one tomorrow, i cant function.
