if any of you remember my post about
my phobia of swallowing starting during my 6th month of pregnancy... here is my update. I AM EATING NORMALLY! i had gotten to a point where i was hospitalized for dehydration and malnutrition.... that's how bad it got.
But through my research, and help from my psychiatrist and therapist.... I HAVE A SOLUTION!
go and talk to your psychiatrist ( mine prescribed me Klonopin "generic is Clonazepam"(chewable pill) and Celexa " generic Citalopram in liquid form) if you get your prescript
ion at Walgreens, they will give you an oral syringe. ask them if this is the right medication for you! and give it a couple weeks to set in your system, but in the mean time start your therapy. i started on what is called "exposure therapy" where you have to raise your anxiety levels bit, by bit, to get through the eating task at hand, remember to do diaphramatic breathing exercises. the biggest mistake people make, is they try regular food right away.... DON'T!!!! start out on the ultra purified baby food, then as your anxiety levels are where they are tolerable, then make the next step up to slightly textured baby foods and easily dissolveable baby finger foods, then go to the fully textured baby foods. i did this and something "CLICKED" in my head.... now i am enjoying pizza, burgers, chili, corn on the cob, tacos, and the list goes on! please print this and go to a psychiatrist and tell them about
your fear of swallowing.... i was diagnosed with extreme anxiety disorder, and this worked for me... i want it to work for you too!
