I am sorry to hear of the symptoms that have been bothering you lately. It is funny how we can not even realized that we are stressed, even to the point of having a panic attack.

When I had my first attack, if anyone had asked if my life was particularly stressful at the time, I would have replied 'No.'

We get very good at comparmentalizing, and repressing our anxiety, until something finally gives...often in the form of physical symptoms, and/or a panic attack.

To answer your question, yes nocturnal anxiety and attacks can happen. I used to wake up terrified randomly either in the night, or in the morning. Sometimes it would be the result of a dream...but not always. The physical symptoms would come on immediately, which just made the fear worse.

What if anything have you been trying to reduce your anxiety? There are several options that you can think about if you have yet to try anything.

Consulting with your doctor for an official diagnoses would be a good way to start. At this time, you can discuss the options of therapy, medication or both. What you ultimatley decide is up to yo, but I can tell you that I have had an amazing recovery through CBT. (therapy)

There are also many self-help tools that you can try, starting today, right at home. On our first page, in the Resource post, you will find:

Breathing and relaxation exercise links (really effective if practiced daily)
Informative articles
...and more.

I hope that you will give one or more of these ideas a try. This is a treatable issue, and you can and will feel better with help and time.:)

I am glad to hear that you are back in therapy however, and that you will be able to see your doctor again soon.

I too have anxiety and I always feel like I'm having heart trouble and I think there is something wrong with my brain I had an EKG in January and a ct scan and everything was normal but I read online about brain cancer and now I'm scared that that's whats wrong with me. Also I had blood work about 3 weeks ago and that was normal as well any input would be greatly appreciated

I'm sitting on my couch with 911 on speed dial. I've been through this so many times, I already know what my trip to the E.R. will be like. I know the drill: I.v. Drip, blood work, EKG, chest xray, hours of laying in that uncomfortable bed, only to be given ativan and told to rest and relax.

it's hard to relax when your face is numb. And your arms tingle. And your chest is experiencing an odd uncomfortable warm tingling that can't quite be described.

I am thankful that I stumbled here. I have felt so freakishly alone for the past few years, believing that no one else understood what was happening to me. It's a comfort to have a forum where I can tell you how very scared I am, and someone understands and can empathize with those fears.
Even as I type this, my attack is subsiding. Previous posters, thanks for opening the dialogue about this. I hate these moments when I have to stop and wrestle my life back from the grip of anxiety, but I'm stronger for knowing I'm not the only one in the fight.

Good morning! I'm sorry you have had such bad anxiety. It can be difficult to get back on track, I know that all to well. I too just recently started Zoloft again. How long have you been back on it? Don't give up hope, you are not alone. There are many good medications out there, and lots of good therapists to help!

Sorry to hear of you current difficulties. :( Yes, give your SSRI time to build up and level off. It can take several weeks to come to theraputic levels in the system.

In the meantime, you can check out our Resources here (main page, 1st post) for excellent self-help techniques and ideas for anxiety management.

These will help you to lower your overall anxiety, and lessen your symptoms.

I use them regularly, and it is amazing how once you learn and put these into practice, how effective they are!

Keep posting with us as well. Support is key. Consider starting an introductory thread for yourself if you feel comfortable doing so. In this way everyone can welcome you.:)

Hey, im so glad I found this forum's. Iv'e been having anxiety attack for 1 month now, after I had a panic attack, I thought the worst of my health and I've been to 2 different docters, had an ECG, bloodcheck and everything came back fine, after this I convinced myself I had nothing, but it still comes back to me. last week I had a Panic attack and I felt like I was really ill. But I called my mom, and got some fresh air and went for a walk outside. It helped alot. I haven't been taking any medication since I want this to go away naturally.
Some days I feel like im great and that Im rid of it, but there has been many times when I'm afraid of doing the simplest things as walking up the stairs, going to the toilet, etc.. But I eventually got rid of those fairs.
Then I had it great for 2 days, didnt have anxiety on my mind (a weekend), but on monday I had a appointment with a therapist for the first time to see if it helped (even though, I felt great). And I have to say it really helped me understand what im going through and how it can be fixed or reduced. I highly recommend it for people who has a bad time dealing with anxiety. But at the same night as I went to the therapist I started having hurting on my right side of chest, going down to my right arm, ending up in my left arm. I couldn't sleep untill I was exhausted, my thought was on that the therapist treatment could be dangerous for my health, but I eventually convinced myself that it wasn't dangerous at all. The next day my arm started tingling especially at the elbow.

Some things that helps me getting it off my mind is Watching Tv (especially watching a movie with low tension such as a comedy, romance etc.), while for example reading a book or playing a game. getting my focus off the anxiety.

Im a 22 male and i still have it, but convincing myself that its just anxiety is not hard at all sometimes, and hard to imagine at other times.
