Hello everyone and very happy new year....
I have a small concern regarding the chest pain i am having ...lately its in my mind that this chest pain can this be linked to my lungs as its in the random spots but particularly near my sternum side or the side of chest .... but i do also feel it in the upper area of chest ...secondly i also have it at the back side ....
i dont have any cough or anything but sometime i have shortness of breath but that can be due to weather or anxiety itself ...i did had blood test and chest xray like 2 months back .... the blood test were done recently which was ok ......except that it was wriiten in the chest xray that appeciaul pleural thinkening .... on which my doctor said that its a layer over the lungs which get harden when any infection happens and its very common ...and it was not just one doctor ... i had asked other doctors too..
because of this thought i am having since yesterday ... today i have this pressure headache ...and close ears...
please can anyone let me know that these are my lungs or just anxiety pain or mascular pain as it driven my anxiety over the peak

If you are extremely anxious then your chest can act like it constricting and have sharp shooting pains. I have dealt with this before and it is frightening because for me it feels like your heart is aching . My doctor said anxiety can cause your chest to tighten to do this
Also try not to think of your symptoms too much because doing this can make them, worse them what they really are. And you have obsessive tendencies if you need to to to multiple doctors and they have told you the same thing. At the end of the day tests don't lie . Take the advice of the blood tests which seem to indicate your fine and just live life not worrying about
every ache and pain.

Happy New Year! Decent, I have had very similar symptoms. I too have pluracy, which is and can be very painful. My test gets so tight that it can hurt to breath. I often have rightness in my chest, arm and back. Anxiety can be a difficult thing to battle. It is very scary not knowing what is anxiety, and what is reality, if that makes sense. You are not alone! Have you talked to your doctor about
your symptoms and anxiety?

Thoratic muscles can get very achy due to tension and over use...which happens with rapid/shallow breathing. We all tend to do this when anxious.
This is where breathing exercises can really come to the rescue!
Expanding the lungs stretches those muscles out, providing some relief. You also get the added benefit of improving your O2/CO2 levels...which helps fight anxiety symptoms. It's a win-win!
If I haven't posted my favorite breathing exercise for you already and you are interested, let me know and I will do so.
We also have instructions for some in our Resources.:)

My anxiety has caused so much tension that I have severe neck pain that radiates down my back, down into my chest causing terrible chest pains, down my left arm, and shooting pains up into my head. ive had all kinds of tests, bloodwork, xrays, mri's, monitors, every heart test, etc. snd its hard to believe but it all does come from tension due to anxiety.. it can do a lot to your body right in front of your eyes without even realizing It until you believe it's something else! as far as the breathing, anxiety has made me feel like an elephant was sitting on my chest a lot of the time where I couldn't take a deep breath and I felt like I was going to pass out from breathing so weird, that's how people hyperventilate, get dizzy, etc. like S.C. said above, breathing exercises really help you to relax those muscles and relieve tension that anxiety has caused making it easier to breathe!
good luck to you and happy new year!!

Here you go...I hope that this helps.:)
The Divided Breath:
Imagine your lungs as having 3 parts. The bottom third, the middle, and top third. On the inhale fill the bottom third first, then the middle and finally the third.
Make sure that this is one continuous breath, but divided, with a slight pause in between each third. Hold the breath in for 3-5 seconds if possible. Exhale in reverse.
First blow out the top third, then the middle, and finally the bottom third of your lungs until all air is expelled. (remember the pauses) Repeat several rounds for a toatal of about
10 minutes.
Practicing this every day will not only give you control and structure to your breathing, it will strengthen and loosen the thoractic muscles, allowing better, more productive breathing, and relieving the chest tightness!
