Not a problem at all! :)
MIL = Mother In Law
"Quinine Water" is also called "Tonic Water." You can most likely find it wherever you do your regular grocery shopping. It's a little bubbly, sort of like seltzer water or club soda, but it has a distinct flavour. Some people find it a little bitter, others do not. So one option is mixing in a small amount of juice.
I can recall over the counter products, such as one called "Q-vell" which is just quinine but in a gelatin capsule form. These can be found at your local pharmacist or chemist.
Quinine has been used for ages, so it's nothing brand new in that regard.
I'd recommend just running it past your doctor to make sure that it doesn't interfere with any of your current meds or health situations. Remember, I'm not a doctor, so this isn't medical advice....just speaking from my personal experience.
RLS = Restless Leg Syndrome (it's a very real diagnosis, and yes, it is truly uncomfortable)!
My aunt used to drink a glass of tonic water before bed (this was back in the 1960's)...back before "RLS" even was acknowledged as an official diagnosis. I, myself, have been drinking it since the 1980's when my own RLS kicks in.
My Mother In Law swears by it now. She gets severe attacks that will keep her up all night. For a few weeks, she went without it (because she felt better,...and I think, not realizing that, for her, it was the nightly glass of tonic water that was helping,...she just stopped). And sure enough, it came back. So now, it's part of her nightly to-do list.
To the best of my knowledge, (and I may be mistaken, it's been ages), the only contraindication I am aware of is they would not recommend you drinking this if you are pregnant.
Run it past your physician, just to make certain. If you decide to try it, pick up a bottle in your local grocers and give it a try. One six-ounce glass...every night. Don't miss a night. Give it a little while to kick in.
Let us know how you make out.
