Switched from klonopin to serax

First of all I am glad Prozac works for you.  Now to figure out what will help the anxiety?

The Antidepressant should help the anxiety - your Dr. just increased your dose of Prozac which may be why he did not do mg to mg in ordering your new benzo.

Klonopin 0.5 mg is approximately equal to Serax 20mg.

I would not worry about the same dose as much as giving the Serax a try and see how you feel on it.

Remember no one medication is going to take away all of your pain or anxiety - the hope is that it will help you tolerate the symptoms and you will feel well enough to use alternative therapies to deal with  your anxiety.

Remind me how long you have been on meds and in which order your Dr. ordered them.

I have been on many, way to many of them as finding the right one was not easy but we finally found one - in fact I take a med cocktail.  In other words I take a combination and the one I can always count on is the one I take for sleep.

Although they've treated anxiety for centuries, plant-based remedies haven't been studied by scientists as thoroughly as manufactured drugs, and should never be used without your Doctor's input.

The three most common are:

• Kava: Widely considered the most effective natural remedy for anxiety, though the FDA has advised consumers that it might be associated with liver injury. It may also cause a scaly skin rash called kava dermopathy. Can be brewed into a liquid or taken as a powder, and doesn't cause mental impairment.

• Saint John's Wort: Has been used to treat depression and anxiety since ancient Greek times. Never take Saint John's Wort if you're taking other drugs without checking with your doctor, and be careful in the sun—it makes skin more sensitive to light.

• Valerian root: Traditional cure for insomnia. More suited for use as a sleeping aid than as a treatment for daytime anxiety. Smells like stinky cheese. reference: ^{From the October 2002 issue of O}

Hi there, this is Kitt. It feels to me like your Dr. is managing your Prozac increases appropriately.

There is a Capsules (delayed release): 90 mg  you may want to talk with your Dr. about once you are up to 80 mg.  Remember each time you change doses you will have the waiting time for the new dose to kick in.

When is the last time you had a full medical screening evaluation to see if anything medical could be causing all this anxiety other than your heart problems.

I know this is extremely stressful for you but always  remember you have a core of spiritual strength that emanates strongly - just hang on to that, and you will get through this. Many prayers coming your way.
