Hello everyone,
It's been around 10 months now and I've been struggling with Hypochondria. I've seen so many physicians, neurologists, cardiologists, pulmonary physicians and so on, and I've been re-assured I have no medical illness. But I'm OCD and need constant re-assurance.
I began my treatment with Cipralex (Lexapro) with Xanax, it helped, but when I tried to quit Xanax I was unable to and switched to Klonopin and triedto taper off that. That didn't work either. I was then perscribed Remeron with 1mg of Xanax/day and I was doing well. Haven't been to the ER in 3 months, was feeling functional too, however I had gained around 10-12 kilos.
I am currently on 20 mg of Prozac a day due to the weight gain, 2.5 mg of Bisoprolol (Concor) for my Blood Pressure and Heart rate, and I've been able to taper down off 2 mg Xanax/day to 1mg/day.
The problem is I feel really bad withdrawal symptoms, head zaps and like electric shocks, tingling feelings, muscle cramps and tension, tremors, so my doctor, who I trust and love with all my heart has today given me 300 mg of Gabapentin to bridge the withdrawal period. He's given me a sample free of charge and also does not charge me per visit as his daughter is a good friend of mine, and I really feel he looks out for me. He is also one of the most reputable and credible Psychiatrists in my country as well as region. He said it will help with my restlessness, ease the tapering and hopefully help you cut down the Benz to an even smaller dose.
But being the typical hypochondriac, I've done a lot of research about
Gabapentin (Neurontin) and have read so much horrible things about
it, but some positive things as well.
My perscript
ion is 300mg/day which is a very small one, I'm not epeliptic nor have ever had a seizure.
So if possible, can people share their experiences with Gabapentin and this approach.
Sincerely,
Mark K
