Lacey,Have you ever gone to a Medical Dr. that also deals in alternative treatment for anxiety/depression?
One of our local Drs. started practicing alternative treatment after studies at the U of M. She has been helping people for 8 years now as well as continuing her PCP practice.
I saw her last Thursday at the suggestion of my Psychiatrist ( all in the same clinic) and found the session very helpful. She used biofeedback and went through controlled breathing/deep breathing exercises. She has a private suite at the clinic and locks the door so nobody interrupts us. We were in a dimly lit room with a large overstuffed leather recliner and for an hour we worked on my breathing. She gave me a light weight blanket and played soft background music.
By the time we were finished I felt much better. She also gave me information on QIGONG Practice sessions held every Tuesday evening - (Guided Sitting Meditation with alternating Non-Aerobic exercises to aid in relaxation to create a general sense of wellbeing.
I promised myself that I would make an appointment for a massage.
I take medication but feel like I need to take control of my anxiety by expanding my tool chest so perhaps you can consider something like I have found.
What would it feel like for you to spend 45 minutes learning how to relax and decrease you anxiety?
Anxiety is tough and I have always used the excuse that "in the shape I am in - a mess" I could not possibly attend any classes but then I realized people willing to help me learn new habits cannot come to me - I must push down the anxiety and get out the door. Isolating is not the answer to anxiety.
I wish you peace,
Kitt
