Seth,
I wanted to address two of the items you listed. (Gotta start somewhere, eh?)
1) I am not familiar with the meds you are on, or how long you've been on them, or if you've had any recent changes in prescribing doses or changes to these meds, or how long you've had these symptoms,.....but.....there are, regrettably, a number of medications that can cause that "zombie" like feeling, the haze, memory lapses, feeling your cognitive abilities are impaired. So in that particular regard, you may want to speak to your prescribing doctor. There may be alternatives.
2) As for what happens after you eat,-- this is actually a very normal response, -- but not everyone is consciously aware of this happening. Some factors include your diet and how sensitive you are to changes occurring in your body. I get this every single time I eat. I have learned, (in my case), that it's simply my metabolism.
When we eat food (especially if we eat meals a few hours apart, giving our bodies time to digest properly, as opposed to eating non-stop)....when our gut is "empty" and we fuel it, there's a change in blood flow, to our digestive tract, to break down and process the fuel we're ingesting. This can manifest as a surge in energy, redness and warmth, hot flashes, a feeling of hyperactivity, energy (or anxiety).
Caveat: These experiences are less likely to happen with foods that are highly processed, sugar-laden....
Well, that's a lot of info for now,.....run through it, and see what you think about it. Again, in my experience, this happens, quite literally, with every meal I eat. When I learned, understood, and accepted that this was why this was happening,...now I just run with it!
