xanax...seizure?

How long after your last dose of xanax would a seizure occur if its going to? Its been over 24 hrs and im trying hard not to take it regularly , but if I really need it which I probably will sometime soon ill take it.just thinking so I thought id bring it up because I was curious!

Hi Laceymyaalayah. I don't know anything about Xanax But my friend takes it and she says it works wonders and she has no problem with it. What are your symptoms of anxiety? This is Misty and you said your symptoms was all most like mine. My symptoms are shaking and trembleing inside. My chest trembles it feels like a sick feeling in side like queasy. Do you get that ? My thighs to my feet tingle and burn. My hands ache and tingle. My toungue even tingles and hurts. I feel sick all the time and tired. I have no appetite at all. I get this gooy stuff in my throat. I get the chills and hot flashes. Misty

Laceymyaalayah,

Are you taking Xanax for a seizure disorder or for anxiety? Seizures attributable to Xanax were seen after drug discontinuance or dose reduction in 8 of 1980 patients with panic disorder or in patients participating in clinical trials where doses of Xanax greater than 4 mg/day for over 3 months were permitted.

I would strongly suggest you talk with your Dr. re this concern.

Thanks for your responses...im only taking .5 milligrams. But I take it everyday for anxiety...I shake and tremble and heart races and this relaxes me. I didn't take Any yesterday but today I took one so far, on the way dropping the kids off at school and me heading to school myself was a big rush and stress pit as usual! But it definitely brought about my anxiety and I felt I couldn't breathe so I had to take it. May I ask what is rebound? Withdrawal symptoms .. ? I've stopped allot of meds cold turkey in the past even kingpin when I found out I was pregnant with my second child and I was fine. I feel of I did that now since my anxiety has since gotten worse in these past 4 years, I wouldn't be able to! My dr said I'm not going to be able to unless I'm on an anti depressant like my old one (Remeron, mirtazapine) where I didn't need the xanax, but I don't want to be on that again.... im on too many meds as it is right now plus I just don't want to be on an anti depressant again. Any suggestions?

Okay, so if I understand correctly, the only medication you currently take for anxiety is 0.5mg of Xanax, and you take that as needed, or roughly once per day,-- is that right?

Yes, for anxiety I only take Xanax.ive been taking this since last March/April when I weaned off the Remeron. I started getting heart palps pretty bad and I thought they were the cause because I've never had them before I was on the anti depressants! I got scared and weaned off. Then I started with the waking up with the racing heart so I needed/need the Xanax on a daily basis, and when it wears off I need another because I stared to get really shakey and trembling starts as well. i am prescribed one every 6 hrs. I try to hold off as long as possible simply because I don't WANT to NEED them but I DO and it makes me MAD. ! but what can I do.... I guess nothing and it'll always be this way.... ) :

Not necessarily....try not to think of it as a permanant situation. Think of it rather as what you need for now.

You may find yourself needing your Rx less and less...and the as needed status becomes more like every once in awhile...or only during the occasional rough spot.

You never know what healing the future will bring...so try to anticipate only good things, and stay in the moment as far as needing your med goes.:)

Lacy I took Xanax for over 10 years so I could work, it was a life saver, after several years I started
group therapy and with the Xanax shutting down Panic or bad anxiety the coping skills got better, finally
one night I took a Benadryl and slept longer than I had in years, my anxiety and panic started to fade
I carried the Xanax for the next two years and didn't need it.
Also I never had any kind of withdrawal like you I only used it as needed, I just don't believe stories about
addition with these drugs when used according to a doctors orders, I wish you Peace

Thank you so much for all of your encouraging words. I was just so upset I feel like I'm starting to hate myself and my life for having stupid anxiety. Its beyond miserable. Anxiety is on my mind.... and medication. Last night I was so shakey and trembly I tried soo hard not to take my xanax, but it seemed like my Heart started to act funny because of it..so HAD to take it.It just makes ne v SO MAD. I really hope this is temporary and maybe in 4 Years by the time im 30 it will go away. My 20's have been HORRIBLE for me for anxiety! I wish soooooo bad there was a CURE. Therapy was a waste of my time...I actually feel like it got worse. Ive tried 3 times and I dint plan on doing it again. I need to find an actual psychiatrist this time around.I just want to stop going to work and give up on school because this is ruining my life and those things make it 100x worse. Im just too the point where I can't deal our cope anymore. Its literally making me sick. ) - : these physical symptoms where it feels like I'm sick or dying are too much for me to handle anymore I'm sooooo over it. I haven't felt good in so long ..so I'm pushing forward to try and make it to a day where I DO feel better but I'm beginning to think there won't be a day. Soooo frustrated today as you can tell. ( :

Hang in there, you're not alone.

When we climb a mountain, not too many of us make it up without falling several times along the way until we succeed. You will make it!

Be prepared for the stumbles that will occur, and accept that they are not the final answer, not a final defeat of your ability to conquer these anxiety problems. Each time you do stumble, get more determined to find the answer that is right for you. And you will!

Even babies fall a lot when they learn to walk,...and they can become athletes. So just imagine you're learning a new step, you're stumbling, but you'll come out the other side even stronger.

Lacy, change the way you think, if you were diabetic you would
have to take meds, and it would be for life, this is no different
you are taking them to have a life.

You do realize that PAD sufferers are in the top 10% intellectually don't you?Peace
