Anyone taking Mirtazapine????

Hey everyone im usually in the heart session, but was recently diagnosed with anxiety and depression. My doctor put me on Zoloft 25mg last week which made me sick for two days, with chills, weakness, drowsiness, and hotflashes. I didn't take it again. Yesterday my Dr. Changed my medication to mirtazapine 15mg, and of course I'm afraid to take it, but really feel like I should, since he also prescribed it for weight gain, seein that I have been losing weight (5'7 111lbs) pretty small, I was 130 before all my health issues started in July 13. My question is has anyone takin this drug, and had side effects, good r bad. And does it.really help with weight gain. I know everyone's body responds differently to medications, but some insite on this drug will be helpful. Thanks!!!!

Thanks for your reply, I am now on day two if taking this medicine. So far its been workin good no bad reactions, hopefully it will continue to workout for me!!!

Thought I'd come in as well.. I was on remeron aka mirtazapine when it first came out back 15 ish years ago. Was on it about six months and it did great then. Here in the last week I've been prescribed it again thanks to lifes little curveballs. I started at 15 mgs first two nights then went to 30 mgs. The two most common side effects is sedation and increased appetite. The lower dose is more sedating then the higher dose believe it or not and so is the increased appetite. The first few days you will be a little groggy and you'll notice most of your appetite is later in the evening. After about your first week the daily groggy feeling will start to diminish. And when the groggy part starts to diminish you'll notice you're not as down in the dumps or as anxious. After about two weeks you'll wake up one day and feel" normal". I also take librax for anxiety related ibs which also has a small amount of librium in it. Which helps as well with anxiety. Librium was the first benzo ever made for anxiety and is considered to be one of the least addictive and least potent. This is the drug valium was derived from as well. I have ativan as well which I take 0.25 mgs as needed, which taking the remeron and librax I haven't had an ativan in over a week. Remeron saved my life the first time, I was suicidal and was ready to end it all until I got on remeron. You will notice you'll need to invest into Krispy kremes as you will crave carbs like you wouldn't believe, but remeron in my opinion is the best ad out there with the least amount of horrible side effects. Just know when you do take it, be prepared to go to sleep within an hour. You won't have a choice your head will get so heavy you will be snoring shortly. Don't do what I did and wait until your head is heavy before you try walking up the stairs to go to bed. Just about couldn't walk up the stairs LOL feel free to email me if you want anymore info on it
