Hi Ashley and welcome. I am sorry that you witnessed a traumatic event, but am glad to hear that your sister is allright.
Seeing a loved one involved in a potentially harmful situation would certainly trigger anxiety for me! Even though you know in your mind that she is fine, it probably forced you to face the 'what if' factor of life! The truth is, anything could happen to any one of us at any time. This can be a scary realization to take in.
The more you talk about your feelings regarding this, the easier it will get for you. Even posting your experiences here may be enough to release your worries and stop the anxiety symptoms.
If this is not the case, and you continue to have the chest pains, palps, ect...you may need to consider getting a referral for some therapy to help you work out your feelings. Sometimes panic can be triggered by an event, such as you witnessed, but won't let go! It can be the start of stubborn anxiety issues that require help to get through.
As far as the GERD, I am not the expert on that, but I do think that anyone of any age can suffer with it. I also know that it goes hand in hand with stress/anxiety. More stress=more stomach acid=gastro trouble:( I personally use pro-biotics as a natural cure for this, and it works for me.
I hope that you can get the help that you need soon. Please feel free to post here with us anytime. I hope that you find this is a place of good support and information as I have:)
Take care,
Scaredy Cat
