I am 100% with vitaka -Trazodone is my drug of choice and at low dose you get drowsy and sleep well. I have been on this med for 6 years and rarely does it fail for me.
I was prescribed Lunesta; took the first dose the first night and it did not kick in. The second night it worked but that day at work I developed extreme vertigo and my husband had to come and bring me home from work. I could not sit or stand; I had to crawl to the bathroom. Never had vertigo that severe.
It is a known side effect of Lunesta.
If you have Xanax - and you rarely use it than I would not hesitate to take it to help you sleep. Ambien (Zolpidem) shares some characteristics of a family of sedatives called benzodiazepines. You already have a benzo with Xanax.
Good Luck,
Kitt
