SSRIs dont help, calming alternative?

Ive tried so many SSRIs, they all make my anxiety worse and even after 12 months on them Im left edgey.

I want a med that relaxes me not stirs me up like the ssris have been. I have some xanax but i try not to take it daily.

Someone mentioned TCAs because they can be sedating, can help with pain (I have neuralgia and back pain) and can help with sleep (I have insomnia).

Thanks for that, but sadly been there done that ie CBT and all conventional anxiety treatments.

Im sure for depression and maybe some people with certain types of anxiety SSRI's have their place.

I have physical anxiety, due to fluctuating hormones and pain.

What I am asking is what is the most sedative like medication outside benzos (because they are too addictive) and buspar for anxiety?

Hopefully in decades to come there will be new help focused on anti anxiety.

unfortunately my doctor will only give me 10x0.5mg of xanax at a time, for panic attacks. they wont give me anymore which is a shame.

essentially i just want something that will bring my physical being down, i find all ssris to agitate me. but there doesnt seem to be much else.

hadnt heard of anti histamines for anxiety before.

If this were a perfect world, we would have one medication that would cure disorders without any nasty side effects. What a world that would be!! No pain, no nausea, no headaches, no itchy skin, no drowsiness and no constipation; wouldn't that be fantastic For now, we live in a world where medications do cause side effects. We can only hope that the medication chosen for you provides more benefit than harm. When you start your new medication, please expect some initial side effects that usually will go away within a matter of weeks  as your body adjusts to the new, foreign chemical. So you need to give  medication a good college try before a decision is made whether or not it will work for you. During this trial phase please alert your Physician   to any side effects that you may be experiencing. Everyone is different. Over time I hope that your physician   can find the right combination of medications that helps return some quality of life to you but does not cause more harm than good. Whether you take medication or not is between you and your physician, however,  keep him/her up to date on your decision.
