Well last night I had disturbing dreams about
it.
He was aloof despite my attempts to be upbeat and friendly. Someone else in the dream was downright not nice as he was being considered for the job and didn't get it and for some reason was blaming me for it.
ha ha- only a dream right?!
I hate change.
I can't tell you how many people asked me if I was taking this position. Not that it was offered to me.
When I heard that a decision had been made and we would be meeting this person tomorrow I have to admit I was like...should I have asked to be considered? This person doesn't appear to have any of the extreme "job qualifications" that were listed in the posting anymore then I do. The plant personnel have a great respect for me and come to me with problems that they know I will address with the proper people so problems are taken care of even though it is not in my job title of CS Manager to address. I am not a horn tooter but I have to admit I am a diplomat.
But who needs more stress and responsibility when you already have too much on your plate?
I just hope & pray that the new guy will want me to be his right hand man as I am to the current GM.
Please pray for the same.
Much thanks,
Weary

WRA, give yourself a break, the guy is going to love you and working with you, he will look to you for guidance and will one
day describe you as his best Friend. Peace!

WRAS,
I hope that today is going really well!!
My thoughts and prayers are with you. You are a great employee, and deserve to have a boss who recognizes your awesome qualities that you bring to your work environment!
Let us know how the first day with him goes.

Thanks Larry & SC
Well...
I'm trying not to have an opinion just yet as we didn't have much interaction. I didn't find him to be friendly although I tried to be. Maybe he was just guarded because he was nervous on his first day.
The strangest thing is he & my current boss look alike, seem to be the same age and their names rhyme.
It's as if they are trying to fool us into thinking that nothing is changing. Freaky.
I didn't feel good. I was thinking about
how comfortable I feel now about
voicing how things should be done and how much my input is valued by my current boss. He makes me a big part of our business and if this one doesn't it will take away my job satisfaction.
You know it's funny. As I just wrote that I remember when my current boss came on he robbed me of being a big part of our company at the time. We were a start up company when I was hired and I was the jack of all trades. We had high overturn in the beginning and no GM in place for a long time so I was relied on by the owners for everything. It was very stressful but I felt like the company was my baby and I loved nurturing it and watching it grow. I am the only original employee since day one.
When current boss came on he had his own way and little by little I faded into the background. I didn't like it at all. In my mind I've been leaving this job for years.
I fought tooth & nail to get where I am today.
I wonder if I still have the fight left in me if need be.
I wonder if I even want to?

That's a pretty wicked story - you being the only original staff member in the company who's remaining, yet you've been sidelined. I think if I were you this would frustrate/ anger me enough for me to want to dump the job and move on. Hope things go well for you!

Hey Rene
I don't really feel sidelined if what you mean by it is I was given a promotion to take my bosses place. I am good at what I do and if push came to shove I could probably knock myself out and manage to pull off his job but I don't have the energy or desire.
I do thank you for your well wishes and for understanding that in other ways I do feel angry & frustrated and ready to dump this job.
I am still trying not to form an opinion early on but they do say you never get the chance again to make a first impression and so far my first impression is negative. Today more then yesterday and now I am feeling sad.

I think the sadness may continue a bit.....in the beginning we can feel a bit of disbelief and even shock. Add to that the happy face we must carry on the rest of the day.
By the time we get home, we can properly decompress and let our true emotions surface...but it does take some time! You will be fine....

Thanks Merrida for the validation
My sadness has increased. I do not click with this new man.
He seems to be friendly to all the other office staff but me. I was near tears all day and in tears behind my closed door at lunch.
I have been detained with duties past my normal hours all week and have been in before him every day. As I left tonight I called out good night! He did not even reply. My current boss walked me out and I said why is it that he's friendly to everyone but me? I just said good night and he did not even reply. He said I don't know. I have been trying to tell myself it's all in my head but I think my boss would have said it was when I asked point blank.
I'm trying to tell myself I'm too sensitive and maybe I'm just over reacting to change.
Does xannax help you not to cry? I am really NOT the crying type at all but for some reason I am a fountain of tears. I am post meno by 4 years so it can't be hormone related.
I don't know what to do.
