Hi. When anxiety brings on palpitations is it just a feeling or can you actually feel your heart beat faster? I have mitral valve prolapse which can increase anxiety. Of course anxiety can increase palpitations so it's a vicious circle! I take medication to slow my heart rate buying so sometimes still get them. I suspect it's anxiety related. But I was curious if anyone else actually feels their heart beat faster. Thanks.

I feel changes in heart rate, sometimes I feel the same rate but it feels like it is pounding and then there are the times I get skips which can be so strong they feel like I am going to pass out and leave me feeling breathless for a second.

I have never been diagnosed with anything heart related but have been having periods of palps since the first panic attack I ever had.

I have the same thing, also PVC's. I feel them all the time. I'm on medicine as well to slow my heart. Yes I feel my heart beat faster and the PVC's . Mine happen all day. I guess I just got used to it.

Thanks. I used to get them a lot and then they subsided. But now they've come back. Lucky me. And sometimes I get that breathless pass out feeling too. Scary stuff. MVP isn't serious or fatal. But it certainly brings on anxiety!! There's actually something called MVP syndrome. One of the symptoms of the syndrome is anxiety!! It's always difficult to deal with the many symptoms of anxiety. I try not to take the Xanax and instead try to deal with the anxiety and work through it.

I get the palpitations where it feels like mine stops and I feel it start back up. I saw a cardiologist and he told me to lay off the caffeine. I do have palps but they are benign and he said it doesn't really stop but one beat kind o stretches then the one catches up.. All I know to me it feels like it stops.

I also get PVC's, and once they lasted all day for weeks I went and had a monitor put on, and wore that for three days. The results were normal, just pvc's. I guess they are pretty common.

I get palpitations all the time, but was cleared by my cardiologist. He said my heart is extremely healthy, and that it's benign in nature, and caused by my A/P disorders. Plus the fact that I'm going through peri menopause isn't helping the situation with my hormones being all out of whack. Sinus Tachycardia I believe was his diagnosis.

He did give me some beta blockers to take if I feel like I need them, but I haven't taken any yet because I know what they are coming from, and usually if I take a xanax they go away. But I CAN tell when my heart is beating faster or just feels like it's beating too hard, and it is VERY annoying, to say the least.

Hi. Thank you. It's comforting to know that I'm not alone. I find taking a xanax helps too. I take the beta blocker every day and most times it helps. The Xanax seems to calm things a little bit too.
