Dear Friends,

I now know the reason why I have facial and neck swelling - I have a blood clot on the end of my Power Port Catheter............started on blood thinners and see the Oncologist this afternoon.

I also know my major organs are still free of cancer but the many cancer lymph nodes are progressively getting larger so we will set a date for me to restart chemo.

I'm so sorry to read of this. I am glad that you have something concrete to explain and thus treat. My heart feels puffy with sadness, and I wish there was something I could do.....

Kitt, I'm sorry to hear you are still dealing with all of this, but just know that I haven't forgotten you my friend. I've been going through some very difficult stuff myself, and with moving again, and having to remodel the whole house, I haven't really had the chance to check in with everyone.

I'm sending healing prayers up for you, and praying to God that he can cure you of this horrible disease!

Good Morning Everyone -

I saw my oncologist on Thursday afternoon and one look at my face and neck and I found myself in the hospital on a Heparin Drip.  Yesterday my surgeon pulled my Power Port in surgery and that went well.  The blood clot is just below where the end of the Power Port Catheter was sitting.

My oncologist had wanted me to stay in the hospital until Monday and if there is no decrease in the facial and neck swelling he wants me to be transferred uptown where an interventional radiologist could run a catheter from my groin up through my heart and out to where the clot is located.  Technique basically same as an angiogram.  Once the catheter is in place than there are medications the Dr. could use to try to dissolve the clot.

My PCP and surgeon both felt I did not need to stay in the hospital until Monday so I chose to come home and give myself the Lovenox injections to prevent any further clots.

I have so many things I must complete before something changes with all this cancer business that I will not be online much this weekend.

You may not think it's much, but you and SC helped me through some pretty rough times in my life. Especially NOW!
