Please help, I think I am having apanic attack right now - I am at work!

Hello everybody,

I am feeling very numb, with shortness of breath. I think I am having a bad panic attack. My vision is very poor and I feel like I'm drunk and very lightheaded!

I am very scared!

Josh, can you go outside and get some fresh air. Breathe in breathe out it will pass, don;t fight it.

I will go for a walk! Thank you for reminding me about no fighting back!

I think it is getting better! I was about to go to the ER- my legs were about to give up on me, very scary stuff.

It went away! Wow this one was intense- lasted about 10-15 min

The more you stay with it instead of running away, the better it will be for you next time. At least thats what I read.

It is like a monster that tries to trick me and make me go crazy, I am trying to trick the monster too!

Its so strange that fighting it does actually make it worse. The more you let yourself understand that you have panic attacks. I have stopped fighting mine for a while now, and boy what a difference it has made. I started getting anxious today actually after a few months of doing really well. I made myself understand that my symptoms were definetly because I was stressed and anxious today. Good job on getting yours under control at work, because that can be the hardest issue. I used to experience panic attacks at work, although I didn't know it at the time. I would think I was having a stroke or going to faint and rush to the ER. I think the confinement of work exacerbated my fear. Breathing techniques are effective and remember you are not in danger or dying.

I work in a cubicle and just step away for a few minutes an hour. The top floor of the building is oddly built and I have somewhere to walk. I am inclined to say I don't do this for panic attacks, but it sounds like it could help you.
