Since the Zoloft didn't go well for me, my doctor wants me to try celexa. I wasnt scared to try the Zoloft, but the side effects with got me scared. I had the same weird side effects with cymbalta before that. Now I'm scared for sure and I am working my anxiety up before I even have the prescription. I hope this works because her goal is to have me use Xanax only as needed. Just wanted to say I'm already scared to try again.

Cymbalta is an SNRI...so this med is going to work on different receptors in the brain. Therefore, you can probably put your worry about the same experience with the Celxa to rest.

Now the Zoloft is an SSRI like the Celexa....but every Rx is different...and you likely will have a different result...so try not to anticipate any negative outcomes! ;)

Good luck paddi! I know all ssri's are different, but just to let you know, I have several family members that are on Celexa and the LOVE it.

Paddi , I was on lexapro years ago and wrkd fine, I recently needed to get back on meds and I was given escitalopram (generic lexapro) and it made me crazzzzy! So I stayed off meds for a year or so cause I was so afraid of this happening again. Three days ago I was sosososo sick of the anxiety I finally tried the citalopram that I've had for months buy scared to take cause of the escitalopram. Today I feel way better! And its only been a few days. Anxiety is a horrible thing to deal with! Try the meds, just may be the answer!

Thank you everyone. I hate taking meds period but I have too.. I take Xanax and haven't had an issue. My ulcerative colitis meds work good too and no side effects. Wasn't worried until I took that Zoloft and it gave me extra anxiety along with other weird symptoms. I am going to try it of course because I need to be on something to keep me level. I just hate that I'm afraid before I give it a chance now. Glad to know someone has tried it too. What I don't get is how different meds in the same group can make us have different reactions..
