Jf03, I am sorry that you are not feeling well :/
If this is going to make you feel better, the severity and persistence of the headache can tell something to you that it is nothing serious. I heard this from my psychiatrist before, also from a couple of doctors.
If you are able to distract your headache, if you are able to not feel it or forget it, for example when a friend calls you, and you don't feel much headache. Then this is how Dr separate a severe physical condition and a tension headache which is most likely psychological.
One another thing my father's doctors told us before (because my dad had condition and we were very well informed about the characteristics of a pain) was that a dangerous condition in brain, e.x an acute severe thing "you name it" :), would make so much pain that you would roll on the floor. You would definitely know that there is something wrong.
Other condition we are scared of "you name it" xD doesn't make any pain. When it makes pain, you would definitely tell the difference again.
Even so, if you can distract yourself, then I am sure it is nothing serious.
