I agree wholeheartedly that we are all here to help MG, AND each other. And I also understand that those are your issues to deal with.

Perhaps if I give you some background on me, you might be able to understand where I'M coming from.

You see, me and your mother aren't THAT different, and I commend her for giving you life, instead of the alternative. Because I chose to do the same for my son.

I was only 14 years old, and still in school, when I got pregnant (the very first time I had sex), and my ex was 22. I had my son on August 22nd, right after I turned 15 on August 6th. I was not near homeless though, I did live at home still with my parents until I was 17, and my son was 2.

After that, I moved in with my ex, in an apartment that his mother owned. I got no help financially from him, so I had to go out and get a job to support me and my son. He would tell me he gave his mother the money for rent, and then turn around and tell her he gave ME the money. So I would have her asking me where the rent money was, when in all actuality, he spent it on drugs. But she never believed me!

I also know what it's like to not have a dad. At least for the first 7 years of my life, until my stepfather took me under his wing, and I was HIS baby girl ever since then, up until the day he died, on August 14th of this year. My mom was a single mom for 4 years, trying to take care of me, my brother, and my sister on her own, because my biological father left and never looked back.

So, I do believe we have a lot in common, and come from not so different backgrounds. I guess we just have different views on things.

That's why I said before, I knew your comment was directed at me, but that's OK, because we all have, and are entitled to, our own opinion.

I have nothing against you at all, and I didn't take it personally. I just wanted to make it clear to the other posters that it wasn't about them. It was for me. And that really IS OK with me.

I agree with you. I'm not saying that she's not qualified. I'm 42 now and wish sometimes I would have had another one with my husband now.

We've been together for 20 years now. But when we got together, I "inherited" 2 more children. Their mother was also a drug addicted alcoholic who just left them. So I took over the job of raising 2 more. My daughter was 8 at the time, she's now 28 with a 7 year old of her own, and my other son was 4, he's now 24.

So I was blessed to have 2 more children without the pain of labor and childbirth. After a few lengthy discussions, we decided that 3 was enough, and I ended up getting my tubes tied at the age of 25.

Afterwards I cried. I thought I was absolutely sure that I didn't want anymore, but I had doubts about it once everything was said and done.

I really don't regret my decision now though. Don't get me wrong, it would have been nice to have at least one together, but I don't look at my "step kids" as anything other than my own flesh and blood. After all, I raised them, kissed their boo-boo's when they got hurt, and cared for them when they were sick. So to me, they ARE mine. :)
