Ladies?

Who has had a hot flash? I truly believe I have been going through peri menopause. I was in the car and all of a sudden felt this sense of heat generate through me, and then my heart started racing. Of course my anxiety was up again also..I turned the air conditioner on and cooled down and took half a Xanax. Talked myself out of driving to the ER and once I settled I was fine. This wasn't anxiety first, or a reaction to anything either. Talked to my doctor today and she agreed. It very well could be. I've had this before also and always thought it was a heart attack. Always wound up in the ER and them telling me I'm fine. Any insight will be appreciated ladies. Thank you.

Hi Paddicake! Sure does sound like perimenopause. I regularly get hot flushes even in the winter they're bad. I sleep only with underwear on and end up kicking the covers off. It feels like my body is on fire. I usually just drink cold water to relieve. My doc wouln't start me on meds for this because I'm already on too many meds for other health problems. I guess I have learned to live with it. Hope you get some relief soon.

I've had hot flashes while I was on fertility drugs, because part of what they did was put me into a brief state of menopause. They are just what you're describing. The first time it ever happened to me, it felt like a panic attack starting, but slowly I started to see the difference in the way the flash started. The flash was actually a lot more severe! And the heat is like boiling blood suddenly flashing through you. It sounds like what you had. Not comfortable, but not dangerous.

The reason you get this is because of your nervou system. It controls the blood vessels supplying blood to face and neck. In hot weather the vessels tighten, and when cold vessels open, its a warming mechanism. Emotional reactions cause lack of control of blood vessels. Worrying about it makes it worse.

Try to not care about it!
