Taking Nyquil?

I'm up in the middle of the night with this stupid sinus headache and sore throat crap that I've had for a few days now. I absolutely cannot sleep and feel really bad. I got up to see if I can take Nyquil capsules if I take Xanax. To be clear I haven't taken Xanax today and I don't know if that matters or not because I'm not sure how long it stays in your system. I just worry also that I might have to take it in the middle of the night or morning after I take the nyquil even though I doubt that would happen.

I checked several drug interaction checker websites and it all says that there is a moderate interaction that needs to be supervised closely because they both cause drowsiness and together can cause even more drowsiness and impairment. Right now I don't really care how tired I am because I need sleep and I feel bad so not sure if that is a big deal. I read a couple of stories online about how people felt sick from it so not sure about that either. Then I cannot remember for sure but I swear that when this anxiety first started and was really really bad that I took some Nyquil one night to try to sleep and that I ended up with horrid anxiety worse than what I started with. Again this was before Xanax and I can't remember for sure if it was Nyquil or just benadryl that I took but it was something to try to get me to sleep. I'm afraid of that happening now.

Anyone have experience with this? I suppose I could just take some Xanax to try to get to sleep but I'd really like for my symptoms to let up some. I will probably just do that and ask my doctor tomorrow when I'm there what she recommends. I'm SO paranoid about taking any kind of meds now and it's crazy because I used to never be that way.

How are you feeling now? Unfortunately we can't really answer your question as we are not qualified medical professionals so I would suggest that you check with your doctor or pharmacist who should be able to advice you on this issue sorry I can't be of more help but I hope you get some good sleep soon.

I can't say if you're technically "supposed to" take the two together, because I'm not a pharmacist or doctor, but I can tell you I've done it a million times. Check with your pharmacist if you're concerned!

I took benedryl with xanax and there is a moderate interaction between the two. Normally that would scare the crap out of me, but I was desperate. I did wake up in middle of the night to turn the TV off, and I felt really dizzy, but I feel right back to sleep and felt fine in the morning too.

Billy- if you're ever in this predicament again, call walgreens or cvs. 1-800-Walgreens is a number I've called at various times of the day and night lol. They'll give you the # of a 24 hr pharmacy in your area & you just call the pharmacy & ask the friendly pharmacist :-)

Cornell, you are too funny! I just ended up taking a Xanax because I chickend out but thankfully that was enough. Oh and Lisa in my neck of the woods there isn't any 24 hour pharmacy, nearest one is over two hours away. I suppose I could've called them anyway. I thought about calling our ask a nurse but they usually take about an hour minimum to call back.
