Dr. Atwood made a suggestion to me today

Hi there, it is me Karen, Mary's daughter. When I was at my Doctor's appointment today with Dr. Atwood, she asked how mom was doing. She said she tunes into Caring Bridge to see if there are any updates. With everything going on, I told Dr. Atwood, I wish I was better at keeping Caring Bridge updated more often.
Dr. Atwood made a suggestion to have the daily nurses who sit with mom, to put an update on the caring Bridge while they are with her each day.
I have now set up my laptop at Mom's kitchen table, so that if mom's nurse friends want to do updates they can easily do that. I am hopeful they will do this as everyone always asks how mom is doing each day.
I will write more, when I can. Now mom is resting, and I want to sit by her.

As we sit with mom day in and day out, she is moving closer to heaven by each hour. The hospice nurses said that it will be about two to 10 days now. Mom had a large hurdle to get over the past several days, and it appears she may have a little more peace now, as she seems a bit more at rest.

She sleeps most of the time now, but as I sit with her, I know she is listening to me babbling on, as she will open her eyes and peer at my for a few seconds and then drift off to sleep again.

Her birthday is November 15th, and anyone who knows my mom, knows she always loved her Birthdays. So I dedicated November as Mom's birthday month.

On November 1st, I gave her a musical card that sang you are my sunshine. That made her smile.

on the 2nd I gave her a new night gown. The nurses suggested we cut it up the back so it is easier to put it on and off mom, so that was awkward to do that to a brand new gown, but they were right, and now mom has the beautiful gown on.

Mom is in a lot of pain, so the pain meds are being given often to try to comfort her, and we give her hand and foot massages.

She can no longer eat, and only sips a few drops of her diet coke each day.

As I hold her hands, I notice that she is getting thin and frail. It makes me so sad as I try to hold on, but I know soon the time will come and we all have to let her go.

I hate to leave her each day, as I am afraid that is the last time I will see her take a breath. She has given us so much more extra time than anyone ever thought, and for that I am grateful.

I know she can hear me, so I keep telling her all the stories I keep hearing of how much she has reached out and helped so many people. Even when she had so many of her own problems to deal with, she was comforting so many people. Naomi Latt's mother came into Rio Gran to get her dogs hair cut the other day, and as she remembered what my mom did for her when Naomi was very ill, though her tears she told me how special my mom was.

The stories never stop coming, and they are what I will need to hang onto in the days to come.

Please keep mom in your continued thoughts and prayers, the time is near for this great person to leave us, and my heart breaks so much with the thought of it.

I didn't know this person but it breaks my heart all the same reading this. I hope she is able to pass without too much more pain. It seems like she was a person who helped many and was very loved.

Prayers for peace to Kitt & her family 💗

Billy- Kitt was an anxiety, depression and other moderator for years on HealingWell. She is a retired RN who struggled with everything we struggle with. She was DX w/colon cancer 2 yrs ago & this summer it became terminal. She was still posting up until August I believe!

I didn't get to know her well but I know many here adored her and this loss is hard and very painful. I'm so sorry for everyone who's hearts are breaking.

Kitt was at one point moderating for up to 4 forums! She tirelessly gave of her generous spirit and knowledge coming to a grand total of 32,602 posts!!!!

Yes, you read that right...thirty two thousand, six hundred and two posts.

Three cheers for Skitt!!! She embodies the heart and soul of Healing Well!!

We LOVE you Kitt-Katt.

I wish her peace and her family strength.
Thinking about Kitt is hard for me even though I didn't get to know her before, when I started posting she was already not around :(

Have peace Kitt, I am sending all my good thoughts and love to you and family, you will definitely have peace... Your HW family will never forget your support, there is no doubt...

I don't personally know stkitt, but my heart feels so much sorrow in hearing of this happening to such a wonderful and special woman. She will be in my thoughts and prayers over the coming days. <3

I don't know her personally either but being on here sure made me feel like I did. She was one of the first persons to answer me when I found this site. I was in such a bad state of mind then and she put me at the greatest ease with her words. I did not know then that she was going through her problems. How amazing a person she is to put aside her struggles and battle with this ugly disease cancer, to make another person feel better. She has to be an angel to help everyone and not think of herself.. I continue to send my prayers and comfort to anyone she will leave behind..

I always told Kitt (real name is "Mary") that like the girl in this song, she too is "a gem in a five and dime store". Kitt was never pretentious, so I imagine that in person, she might all too easily be looked right past, despite her amazing beauty as a person!
I love Kitt and will miss her...I already do actually. But I know she'll only be sleeping until the resurrection.

Reading this has made me very sad cry. A part of me always was hoping and praying that our dear Kitt would be able to fight this battle and come out smiling like the champ she is. I can only hope now for her to have peace and be pain free. My heart hurts right now, she is a very special person. Close your eyes Kitt and dream of riding away on your Harley with a smile on your face. You're loved by many, and your dedication and devotion to the forums will be greatly missed. As I read Kitt's daughters words with tears...I'm thinking she is hanging on to make her birthday. I have been amazed that she is still with us and I have been praying for her comfort and peace.

Kitt is someone whom I did not know for long yet she touched my heart and will remain there forever. A kindred spirit.

I hope she feels the warmth and love I am sending her.
