klonopin withdrawal

Has anyone had experience getting off of klonopin? I have been on 0.5 mg 2x a day for 1 yr for panic attacks and am having trouble weaning off slowly. I get impatient and start skipping doses or cutting too soon. I am not on an antidepressant because I generally can't tolerate them. The withdrawal symptoms have been horrible so I'm wondering how slowly you have to wean.

I am sorry you're having trouble with your disconintuation.:(

You should have been given instructions from your prescribing dr. as to how to comfortably wean.

If not, please call his/her office for advice A.S.A.P. (if you can't call your doctor, your local pharmacist may also be able to advise you)

To toomuchanxiety How slowly did you wean?

Go slow, one of the side effects while weaning can be vomiting. You can get dehydrated really fast.

Even if you have to cut down to quarters, just don't rush it. Do talk to your doctor about this. I was on 4 mg of Xanax a day and have weaned down to 1/4 mg a day. I am taking it really slow, this process has taken years for me, but I was on it for many, many years. I will go to halves and then maybe even quarters before I stop it.

I wish you the best. Weaning isn't always easy. Just take it one day at a time and try to stay in the moment. If it makes you anxious, stop. Then try again another day. Good luck, talk to the doc about this...

...but that does not discount the advice that can be found there regarding weaning, including titration, for a smooth gradual discontinuation.

You can choose to not buy anything, and still look at the advice.

It is not as good as your doctor's advice, but better than guessing.

Some of us aren't lucky enough to respond so well to antedepressnts and are left with only the benzos. Anyway, all the responses have been super helpful. I did even get some good info from the supplement site but best of all was benzobuddies. This site really motivated me. Again thanks for all the info. I find the info here more helpful than most physicians. Most mds are not interested in withdrawal unless you are on a very high dose.
