Hi All,

I feel like I've been doing so well lately and now all of a sudden I feel the panic/anxiety coming on.
I've been having chest pain all week, I'm sure it's muscoskeletal, if I press down in a certain spot it's just PAIN. My neck and my back are SOOO sore. It's awful. I just feel so off right now. Trying not to dwell on it but it's hard. I checked my heart rate and blood pressure and it's normal so I shouldn't be freaking out I know but it's though. Ugh. Tired of feeling this way.

I can completely understand what you're going through! I was having really good days then yesterday and today I am panicking. I'm sorry you are feeling anxious!! It's definitely a hard road to follow!! We are all here if you need to talk!!

same here! I have a 7 month old daughter I'm constantly carrying, along with gerd and I think an ulcer..and I get random chest/arm/rib pain and every time I do I'm sure it's an impending heart attack. so sick of worrying!! I just wish I could stop

I can completely relate to what you are going through. I go through periods of doing so great and then, bam, panic sets in. Things will be okay and it will pass, I promise!

Sorry you are going through this right now:( Bad days are the worst, especially when you think you have finally shook the anxiety.

Your neck and back pain are probably being caused by the anxiety. I had horrible neck and back pain for months. Just recently it has subsided. But it comes right back when I get too stressed.

Hey AG,

I too am sorry to hear that you are currently struggling.:(

We are here to listed, understand and care...so know that you are not alone!

How are your coping skills/anxiety management going? If you are already doing them, great...keep going and see if you can increase them/pick up a new technique or book...

...and if you have lapsed a bit, then get back into the routine. We have lots of great helps in our Resources...take a look!

Thank you all for your support and encouragement...it's so nice to be able to share with people that understand.

Today wasn't so great...it started out well but then had to be in the car for over an hour and walking around a crowded Ikea store triggered chest pain and anxiety...I felt a full blown attack coming on but somehow managed to control it, phew! I've noticed that being in the car isn't great for my anxiety, this was never an issue before, but ever since this past summer I started getting chest pain and a panicky feeling in the car, it's not all the time but it does happen enough that it worries me.

Feeling a little bit better now...stopped at my parents house for dinner which was nice and got to talk to my little brother about my anxiety a little bit, he has been through this and now it seems it's my turn in the family. He's trying to encourage me to take my medicine, I have a script for Lorazepam but I'm nervous to start taking it. I'm scared that it'll make me feel even worse. Does anyone have experience with them to share? Would love to hear your input.

Great job on getting through your rough patches yesterday! You handled your triggers (car and crownds/shopping) really well. That is progress!

I don't have personal experience to share as far as the medications. I can however share what  I have learned and heard from others.

Loraz is a benzodiazapine which when used as needed/prescribed can be a really effective medication in treating anxiety...especially for shutting down acute attacks.

Benzos tend to have a low occurance of side effects, and most people tolerate them well. The downside is that they can create a dependency. However, you do not sound as if you are at risk for this.  Especially when used only on an as needed basis...this is not a concern to worry about.

If you are worried about how you will react, I would suggest taking your first dose at home, with a loved one present who can be watching you for reassurance. The most I have ever heard of someone reporting any reaction to this class of Rx is sleepiness...as it is basically a tranquilizing type med.

Of course, the choice to even use your Rx is up to you. The point of it is to help, not to cause more anxiety, right? You need to feel comfortable in whatever you decide.:)

I took Lorazepam for a couple of years, can't really say they helped with my anxiety and since my Dr didn't like to give them to me along with pain meds, I stopped taking them. I had no side effects from them that I can remember though.
