Hi AB and welcome back! :)
I am really sorry to hear of your partners health issues. I do wish her the best, but know that she has great support and help in you! :)
As far a taking your blood pressure...you'll want to find a balance. You want to get used to the cuff, and not driving your BP up by anticipating a high reading...
...but you'll also want to avoid becoming fixated or obsessing over getting the perfect reading.
Our BP fluxuates, and during times of anxiety it is going to naturally going to be elevated. However, as long as it drops into normal range once you are relaxed, you are likely not dealing with true hypertension.
Track your BP, and if you find that your average of readings is still too high...then definitely set up and appoinment to talk with your doctor.
Most likely though, once you relax, you will probably see those numbers start to drop.:)
Wishing you both well...and post anytime!
