a mate has passed away.

today i found out a mate has passed away in the last bit. that's 2 this year. he was very sick, and nearly passed when he was living with me last year.

SO sorry to hear about your loss. Last year I lost a good friend, so I can understand how you might be feeling right now. I'm sure your mate would want you to remember the good times and to see you smiling. And although it may be difficult now, time will heal. Everything will be okay, I promise.

welcome to the forum, and thank you, my condolences to you as well. i lost another mate, my second mum only a couple of months ago, so it has been hard. i have lost many over the years. i'm very raw at the moment.

So sorry for your recent Loss HT. It is so hard when it comes on the heels of another loss and especially near Christmas. :( It sucks the joy right out of you.

So sorry to hear of your friend's passing.:( I also lost a friend this year to alcohol complications...it is so sad.

I bet you were a great friend to him, and that your encouragements brought him through many rough times.

he was a severe alcoholic, had a stoma put in as he wrecked his liver. got alcohol hepatitis. i feel other things are at play. cause of his death.

My dad had the same thing... alcoholic cirrhosis that required draining of the liver.

He went swimming in a lake with his shunt/stoma (WTH?!?!) and contracted a parasitic infection that led to his death. (a normal healthy person would have been able to fight off this fairly common beastie)

Alcohol is both a wonderful and terrible thing. I respect it and am very careful with it. I joke around about imbibing...but the truth is, I have always been really conservative because I know the 'dark side of the celebration.'

RIP to your friend...he is free from the things that challenged him here on earth.

I am changing my pledge. Since he had a problem with alcohol, and I really don't like beer, how about a handful of cookies instead?
I know its hard any day to lose a friend, this time of year just magnifies any emotion. We all have the extra pressure of being jolly, whatever that means. Know that we are here for you....baking cookies and chasing kids.

I was respecting and ok with alcohol before even my father was treated with alcoholism. But after I read about the amount of the sugar one gets with alcohol, then I changed my mind. It's too much sugar and can't be good for health anyways.
Also the way liver processes this type of sugar is way too different than natural fruits and grains... :( unfortunately.
Alcohol sugar is converted to toxic chemicals in the human body. Sorry if I made anyone upset with this text.
