Question for Christians with anxiety

Hi all,

I am facing a rather larger obstacle that keeps making me doubt my recovery. It's to do with a sense of impending death (not immediate but in the near future), and I struggle with the idea that it is God telling me this rather than my anxiety. Can anybody else relate to this?

I have journaled a whole list of reasons why I believe it is my anxiety causing these thoughts and not God's voice, but there is still that seed of doubt in my mind. I have fought so long and hard to overcome this anxiety, and this is the real stumbling block for me.

I know that a lot of people who suffer from anxiety feel these same sorts of feelings, but being a Christian I am finding that added element of discerning between God's voice and the anxiety to be difficult.

I have had many times where my anxiety has overwhelmed me and I have prayed and asked God to take it away in that moment, and he has intervened and done so, which is one of the many reasons why I feel that impending death is not what God is trying to tell me. But like I said, there is still that seed of doubt, and I think it would be helpful to know if anyone else has experienced similar or is struggling with the same thing.

Lady, i want to share my feelings on this subject, "God is not a terrorist", He is our Father, your Father,
i have told this many times here so forgive me for saying it again. Once we win the battle with the fear of
death, anxiety is Beat, stomped, and destroyed. The worst thing about Panic is the Oh my God i'm dying
feeling we get, why do we do this to ourselves everyday, death is not something that has to be practiced!

I believe that God allows our suffering for a reason. I saw it firsthand in my own life this past few months. I believe it hurts Him to watch us suffer, but there is simply just a reason for everything.

To my knowledge, God does not speak to us, or give his word regarding when our time it coming.

However...anxiety certainly like to yammer on about it!

So I would say that this is likely your anxiety feeding you these thoughts and fears.

Do you have a pastor that you can talk about this with? How about a Christian counselor?

They would be the best people to help you come to an understanding about the lines of delineation between faith/the voice of God...and anxiety.

Reading your bible and coninuing to keep a quiet time will also help you to listen to His voice...and see the signs of you faith come to you during this reflective practice.:)

I was going to say pretty much what sweet Larry said - God wouldn't pick on you. Why would He, in His infinite wisdom, give you such knowledge when it would only create fear? Nope, I don't think so.

The bible says that He will come like a thief in the night - you won't know the hour.

That said, there was definitely a point in my journey when I thought a lot of my negative feelings/thoughts were coming from God. I think that with God being sort of mystical (not sure if that's the best word) and panic being so confusing, we mix the things together when we're at our weakest.

I do think God speaks to us, but not to confuse us. Dangling death over you when it creates nothing but fear? Nah. Walk your path in faith and in the best way you can and there's no reason He'd want you thinking about death.
