Anyone else take Lorazapham on a daily basis or at all?

I have been prescribed this benzo and I have to admit I'm afraid of it cause I heard it's addictive and hard to stop. I took one last night because I couldn't sleep plus I wanted to see how it made me feel. I'm on 0.5mg which is low but how is it supposed to make you feel?  I fell asleep so I don't know.

I've been on it for 15+ years and I am fine. Depends on the person. Not everyone becomes addicted to these types of drugs. I think those who become dependent on this have a tendency to become addicted to other things like alcohol, cigarrettes, caffeine etc as well.

What I really want to know is how does it help, how does it make you feel?

Makes me feel very relaxed. :)
But I am not sure about how it is 'supposed' to make you feel. I think everyone reacts differently to medication. If you fell asleep it means it is working. If you have a hard time waking up, then you can ask your doc to adjust the dose. 0.5 mg isn't that high...but for some it can still be strong. I think it's the same when taking any medication.

I am prescribed that "as needed." And it makes me feel super relaxed, and it makes me feel like every person I am around is my "best friend." I get really chatty when I take that stuff and my anxiety is absolutely NOWHERE to be found. In fact, you'd probably think I was the most care free person in the world if you met me when I had just taken it.

I choose not to take it though, because my body becomes addicted to it very fast (after only taking it once.) My body is hyper-reactive to all meds though, so your body might not become that way with it.

Just my personal story! I did take it once a few weeks ago so that I could snorkel with my husband and hold stingrays.

LOL! I get that kind of feeling too...but that does sound scary hahahaha!!

So these stingrays, lol, they're down in the Cayman Islands. It's called "Stingray City." Pretty cool, but pretty intimidating for anyone with anxiety disorders..!

Deborah, I too have been prescribed it on as needed basis, .5mg. I've been caring it around in my bag since I got it...I'm too scared to take it even though everyone just says that it'll make me feel very relaxed and some days that would be such a relief.

TMA, you make it sound so appealing. I would love to feel that relaxed if only I wasn't too scared to take it.

I was also prescribed this to take on an as needed basis. I just feel really relaxed, but a little spacy so I don't take it unless I absolutely have to, so would not become addicted. I only take .5 when I do need it.

I was prescribed this years ago, and just like Lisa, did nothing for me. It sounds like it worked for you though, as a lot of the time benzos make people sleepy.

I have Klonopin to take as needed - and like you (and many of us) was afraid of how it would make me feel and also read that it can be very addictive. I've been on it now for over 1/2 year and 15 tablets seem to get me through 3 months, so I figure, if I don't take it everyday I'm not getting addicted. I also only take 1/2 tablet when I feel the need - it sometimes helps me to sleep.

thats bs. check out the horror stories on benzobuddies.org. its full of stories of people who became addicted under a dr,s care

That is what's so scary to me all the stories I read on benzo buddies. I feel this is a medicine that really helps me and keeps my anxiety under control but very scared to use it because of their stories.

I've never taken a benzo, and I know a lot of people take them and they help a lot, but when I asked the ER doc about them today she said, nope, stay away from the benzos...too addictive.

I will not argue here but i have been in the field more than 40 years, the people i met that got addicted
were not using their script as written, and were using the drugs socially, everyone needs to make up their
own mind, there are horror stories about every medication on the face of the earth. May you find Peace
