Hello everyone! How has everyone been doing? I came on here so happy to see the regular faces (or names)! I have truly missed each and everyone of you!
I am proud to say that I have been anxiety free for almost 4 months! I am so much happier today and what a great feeling it is not to live in constant fear! That "pending doom" feeling is something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy and atlas I have been freed from that but I have worked very hard to get to this point and I would be happy to share with you what I have found that works for me : )
As most of you know, in my prior posts I constantly preached medication, meditation, education, psycho-therapy, and healthy distractions. All of these are so important on your journey to 'healing' but there are two more elements that are so simple yet so vital to a more blissful and healthier life where anxiety and fear is not at the forefront of every moment in your life.... Diet and exercise!
I watched a documentary called "The Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead" and it really changed my life. I totally revamped my diet eating more fruits and vegetables and eating more low-fat, low-calorie foods with minimal lean meat (chicken and fish - NO red meat). I was never really considered fat but through proper exercise and diet I lost nearly 50 pounds and it feels so good to be at my ideal body weight. I am also proud to say that my doctor took me off all of my bp medication!!
As you all know, I am not much on leaving my home so the thought of going to a gym made me almost nauseous. So I ended up buying an elliptical machine from Craigslist and putting it in a spare bedroom and I started out doing it for 30 minutes for 3 times a week. Now I am working out for about an hour a day! My energy level has sky-rocketed and I have never felt healthier!
I would recommend to anyone suffering with this dreaded disorder to really and truly make your diet and exercise a top priority on your journey to healing (without negating your medication, therapy, and healthy distractions Ofcourse). This has truly been my saving grace... And there's no reason each one of you can't do the same thing! Make small changes to your diet now!! Start walking for atleast 10 min... Making those first, initial changes are so important!
This forum has been a HUGE part of my healing process and I will continue to check in and make posts. I missed you all very much!
My family is doing well... My three daughters are growing so fast! We also have a new addition to the family - a Yorkie Poo doggy! Her name is Molly and she is so cute!
Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope you find some value in what I wrote..... Here's to you and your healing!!
Hugs
