Seriously....??!! Prilosec is OTC, and my doctor recommended me to take it for the next 4-6 weeks. Of course, since I am so anxious about meds, I looked at every possible side effect. Whoops! Big mistake there.

How on earth am I going to look past all of those side effects and possibly take this med tonight?! My stomach feels like someone poured hot lava in there, so I am sure this would be helpful, but now I am too scared to try!!! :(

Anyone else take Prilosec or have a medicine phobia they have overcome??!!

I take something like Prilosec except it's prescription strength. I don't remember any side effects from it when I started taking it. You'll be okay, I promise.

I take Prilosec daily. I have no issues with it and my stomach feels so much better.

Oh man, I would be so grateful to have my belly feel normal again. In my anxiety laden mind, I'm going to get the worst possible side effects....because I'm just "that lucky person" who breaks the odds. Oh man... I'm glad to hear it has helped you both though!!!

Do you think Tums would work just as well?? Why am I freaking out about this???!!

Well, I guess my husband just settled that for me. He opened the pill bottle, grabbed my water, and told me to take it. Lol. I made him pray for me after that bc I am SOOO SCARED. So we prayed together. Hopefully this night goes better than my anxiety is telling me it will!! :/

.....and now a huge wave of anxiety just covered me.... How long do side effects take to show up anyway???!!!

I'm the same way with medicine, if you don't want to take it try some natural ways and don't eat things that aggravate your GERD. You'll be alright just relax and hang in there. Tums worked for me and I didn't drink Prilocec because I'm scared of meds too

Thanks!!! This whole GERD thing is totally new to me. Just started two night ago, so I am pretty clueless about what is going on! :/

I already took the meds, per my husband's help, so hopefully I won't be a "super scanner" and freak out about every little movement of my body!!

Ok, time to put on my brave face! Lol!!

You are going to be fine.:)

OTC meds only have those s/e warnings as a 'CYA' move for legal reasons...

...they are seriously so rare, as to be negligible.

TMA- I'm the same way! I hate taking anything!! Prilosec is a safe medicine and you should be just fine taking it. It will make you feel so much better too. Thinking of you!

Well, seems like the Prilosec has helped a bit. Obviously not all the way, since I'm still up in the night with a sick/burning/uncomfortable stomach..... But hey, I'm feeling slightly better than the past 2 nights.

Or maybe not... Man what's up with my belly! This is madness! Yuck!!! Thanks for the boost friends!!
