Hey Kiran,
I can totally understand not wanting to become dependent on a medication. I do want to say just a couple things about
anxiety meds, although I have no idea how much you have talked to your healthcare provider about
them. First, there are two real big fighters in the field of anxiety; benzodiazepines and SSRIs. Benzos have a potential for addiction and abuse. My brother was one such person. SSRIs are a little different though. They are not addictive and usually people don't end up on them for life. They... level the chemical playing field. They do not cause artificial happiness or anything like that. What they do is restore balance to a chemically unbalanced mind. This really helps set the platform for the other things, like relaxation exercises and therapy, to become effective and a life long solution. That all being said, your treatment is
your treatment. If you don't want medication, that is totally a path that people go down. Just make sure you have a good discussion and know all your options
.
Also, CBT therapy can be great! There is some starter guides and info in the
Anxiety Resources. Definitely listen to that CD! Those sort of resources quickly become invaluable in our fight! Also, depending on what works for you, I really really recommend the app
Buddhify. It is very helpful for me.
Best of luck. Wishing you calm and happiness.
