Anyone know if .25mg Klonopin helps anxiety?

Good evening! Has anyone used .25mg of Klonopin to help with panic and anxiety? My doctor gave me it for panic and I just took one. I'm always nervous about trying new medicines so I wanted to reach out in hopes someone here could offer their experience/advice. I really need to calm down so I'm hoping this helps.

Any input would be so very appreciated. Thank you!!

Hi Liz2014 I take Valium 5mg and it really helps though think I have gotten used to it now don't always feel the effects. Its great at calming you down it will work.

Hi Liz,

Benzodiazepines are used to treat acute anxiety and panic. They have tranquilizing qualities, and are very effective in quickly calming the nervous system.

Everyone has a unique experience in terms of how they will react to a medication...however, Benzodiazepines are known for having little in the way of side effects.

The downside is that they carry a risk of dependence, and therefore not recommended for those with the addiction issues.

However, using them as prescribed greatly reduces this concern...and working on other coping methods such as therapy and self help programs, further ensures successful anxiety management with little risk of issues with your Rx.

Thank you both for your input. The medicine really did help me calm down which was much needed relief. I'm going to continue to try to manage daily without but at least I know it's there if I really need it. Have a wonderful day!

Great to hear! I am glad that you got some relief...that is what it is there for.

Also glad to hear that you will continue other forms of management...as this is a wise and well rounded plan for the long term.:)

.25 colozopam worked for me. I was prescribed .5 but would break the pill in 1/2. I believe .25 is considered a therapeutic dose. At one point I took .25 or a .5 every night for a few months. I was so worried about becoming addicted, but that definitely didn't happen. My dr said not to worry about it because it was such a low does. I would say though, use it like a crutch- when you need it only. If you find you need it all the time, it's time to look at other options. I had a great experice w/ zoloft, posted it above for you to read. I am almost off it competely and have nothing but positive things to say. Any how, best of luck. You are not alone, always remember that.

Hi Liz, I take Ativan which is basically the same as Klonopin. I have 1 mg tabs, I break it in four and take them as needed throughout the day. The most I've taken in a day is 1.5 mg, which is still below what my doctor wanted me to take 2mg daily.

Whenever I find that I need a Clonazepam, I also break it into 0.25 mg only and never exceed 0.5 mg if i need to take one. I personally found it to be very effective for me but perhaps it's because I took into consideration my body size (I'm 5'3 and around 96 lbs) definitely underweight due to anxiety but such small dosage is quite potent for me!
