Weaning off Zoloft

You might have withdraw symptoms, but you were only on it for about a month so I would tend to think they won't be too bad. Remember your tools just in case, if you need some resources check out the first thread and look at the mindfullness link, it's a quick video that should help you. Thanks for the replys yes I said as of now I'm gonna try and be strong and I said I will take the Xanax as needed when I feel an attack coming on. I figure I will take the fish oil and vitamin b12 too. I really don't want to go back on any antidepressants due to the fact on being on lexapro the cardiologist thinks I had two episodes of afib. I told the dr I have anxiety since I was 17 I'm 33 I know the difference between fast heart beat and irregular chaotic one and he's like your right and I was so relieved. Drs always try to be like oh just anxiety I said to Him don't get me wrong I'm sure anxiety played into it but it's always good to get checked out. I can say all these years I had anxiety only been to the er twice first time 17 and now.

I'm on Zoloft thank God I haven't had any bad side effects from it and I'm on 75 four months now .
Curious ? Did your doc say that the antidepressants caused your afib ?
I too hear that seris can irritate the heart when taken in high doses but never really had a doc confirm it . Or do you have a heart condition that caused your afib , I always worry about svt since I know anxiety can cause your heart to go in to the svt rhythm , but I don't know much about afib would be useful to know ?! Thnx

Well my cardiologist had to look it up and yes the lexapro causes afib in about 1% of people. I was on it for 7 years and two years ago I had an episode. He said the way I explained it to the tee he thinks it was afib but he can't be 100% sure. I believe it was either svt or afib granted lexapro was great but I needed to get off give my body a break and I wanted to start a family. I was off of it almost two months and in that two months besides going through awful withdrawals I had two panic attacks driving home from work. They were full blown I've had anxiety all my life and never did I have svt or afib until the meds. So I got scared and I went back on the lexapro 18 days into it was when I had the episode. I got off started Zoloft 25mg then was bumped to 50mg nope don't like it not for me. So I decided which I should have done the first time when I was off lexapro take a Xanax if I feel it coming on but I was scared to even do that. Now as I'm weaning off Zoloft I take it only if I need it the Xanax I push myself when I start to feel really anxious I will take it. It doesn't mean this will happen to you I think my body is just very sensitive.

Everybody takes different to these meds. Lexapro was great for the 7 years besides the palpitations. This week I'm now on 25mg every other day then next week I'm taking half of 25 everyday then every other day then done. Side effects settled. Herat racing no more. I'm gonna try and just use Xanax when needed and see how it goes see if I can cope or is it that I really do have a chemical imbalace in my brain we will see. I still get night sweats and the diarrhea and I have like a glass glaze over my eyes which I'm guessing is the sertraline. How are you doing on it?

For what it is worth i never took anything except xanax, once i learned that i could shut panic down with
it i just used it as needed, i swear by it, Peace
