Discontinuing My Zoloft

Spoke to my Dr and she wants me to Discontinue my Zoloft starting tomorrow, til I see her next Monday, and then we'll go from there. I was ok with it at the beginning, then I was getting headaches, upset stomach, the usual stuff, then the nightmares started and now I can barely sleep, heart rate has slowed to 60 bpm, from 74 average. Who else has come off Zoloft and was it bad? I've been on it roughly 2 weeks or so.

I'm sorry the zoloft didn't work out, I hope you can find a med that does work and doesn't give you all these side effects. I'm not a doctor and I can' t say for sure, but you shouldn't have too bad of withdrawal symptoms being you only took it for 2 weeks.

Thank you, I was so hoping it'd work, but, I'm committed to finding one that works and keep going with everything and hopefully getting better.

I'm sorry this didn't work out for you Melissuh!

I spoke to my doctor today about the slowed heart rate and he said that as long as I wasn't consistently below 50, wasn't fainting or experiencing constant dizziness, it was not a problem. However, all of my other side effects have started to go away.

I don't imagine you should have too much trouble going off after only two weeks, but we're all here if you need to vent while you go through it!

Thank you! the nurse that called me back said the same, she said it should be lower while sleeping, mine was 55 right after waking up, and average about 60 bpm is good. I just am so use to it being 74 minimum that im like, oh my..

Hi

Sorry to hear the Zoloft has not worked out for you.

It can take a while to find the right one that works for you but it can take anywhere between 6-8 weeks before you will see the full effects of the medication so best to stick with one for that period if you can before making a change to an other.

Getting off depression medications and cause and affects but don't worry, in time your body will remind it self and you will come down from it. You may need a different medication for sleep, have you tried Lorazepam 5mg at bed time?
