Welcome Nammy, I'm so happy that you have found us but sorry you are suffering with anxiety. This is a awesome forum full of people that care and above all else understand.
First of all I have a couple questions, What kind of Dr gave you the celexa and ativan? A GP or a shrink?
What kind of doctor did you see about
your headaches? Are you in therapy of any kind?
Although there is a very long list of physical symptoms that anxiety can cause, a 3 month headache makes me think something else is going on. Have you seen a headache specialist? Whoever told you that it was all in your head needs fired, if it was a doctor fire them and find a new one please. Even if it is anxiety, it is not all in your head, anxiety is real and causes real physical symptoms. I can't tell you how much that phrase angers me, as I have been told the same thing before.
Secondly there is no cure for anxiety, I'm not sure who told you that you just need a couple months with the meds to find a normal life and after that all will be normal, it doesn't work that way. Yes, meds can lessen the anxiety, but you need to also learn coping skills. The best way to learn coping skills is to go to therapy, we suggest either CBT or Mindfulness therapy, as both are proven to show progress on reducing anxiety. There is no quick fix of anxiety, and I'm sorry to be the one to tell you that but there really isn't. It takes alot of work, and dedication to therapy to learn how to cope with the anxiety, and with time it can lessen or go away but that isn't usually the case, many of us have dealt with anxiety for years.
I've suffered with anxiety for over 30 years to some degree, there have been periods of time that it wasn't so bad, but others were I thought I was going to lose my mind. Now being on meds that have me stable along with therapy I'm coming out of a everyday anxiety phase and seeing the daytime again.
Again, Welcome. I'm sorry if I sounded harsh in anyway, You have anxiety and that is real, your physical symptoms are real too. Please post with us anytime, ask questions, or ask for help or simply just to vent, we will walk this journey with you if you let us. I look forward to getting to know you better.
