My drs office called me back, my dr is going to be changing me to I think she said lexapro? Does that sound right? Has anyone ever been on it? I know nothing about it obviously.

Yes, I have been on it and had some favorable results. However, the sexual side effects made me decide to stop. However, that is probably the most common side effect, especially amongst men. I'm unsure how it affects women in that capacity. One will work for you, but it's just figuring out which one that is.

That is one of the few I have not tried, but I know there are alot of people here that are on it, or have been in the past. I know Hibee used to take it, but think it is the one that pooped out on him if I remember right.

I hope you get the least amount of S/E from it and hope it works, keep us updated. Wishing you the best.

Hey Melissuh. I'm on Lexapro. Been on it since last August. I was on it years ago, and it worked great for me. I had pretty bad side-effects for a couple of weeks, and then they subsided.

This time, my anxiety is much worse, plus I have not only the other issues that sent me to it 11 years ago, but more on top of those. I've increased to 20mg, but still having pretty severe panic attacks.

I should mention though, that I am having some really extreme circumstances right now. I think if it weren't for the multitude of health issues I'm experiencing, it would be working fine for me this time too.

I hope that makes sense.

Hello!

I'm currently on my 2nd week of Lexapro. My doctor started me out at 5mg for now. It has been a roller coaster of emotions, thoughts, and anxiety over the past couple weeks, but I can tell it's working. I was having some pretty bad intrusive thoughts that was giving me severe anxiety and since I started, each day gets better to brush them off. I still have my moments, but I know it's all part of the side effects and they will get better. I have read so many good things about this medication which keeps me going. I do take .5mg of xanax if it starts to get really bad, but so far I would recommend Lexapro. I hope it works for you too. Just keep with it!

My doctor prescribed me paxil before Lexapro and it was not for me. Lexapro is much better for me. I did hace to switch to taking it in the morning because it gave me severe insomnia, but sometimes it makes people sleepy so you have to find out what's best for you.

I was on Lexapro for 7 yrs. went off for 3 yrs and went back on 5/1/15- I can't believe I ever went off! This drug really agrees with me-10mg. Yes, the sexual side effects are a drag, even for women, but I'm determined to....TMI: work on that-I won't elaborate. So far "working on that" has been working. No panic attacks or social anxiety. I only take Xanax for Doctor, dentist, and therapy appt's because-I hate them- and I do get anxious. I use to sleep great on Lexapro. I would take at night and sleep for 9 hours. I sleep 4 hours, wake up and sleep maybe 2-3 more hours. I've switched my dose from pm to am and I've seen little improvement. I had insomnia issues, before Lexapro, but I do think this new pattern is caused by Lexapro. I hope this helps and keep us posted! If you have any questions, feel free to email me.

I was on Lexapro a few years ago and it is one of the best antidepressants I have been on it worked really well on my anxiety and depression and I did not have any side effects unfortunately it pooped out on me after a couple of years so I had to change to a new one. It's important to remember that we are all different when it comes to AD and what works well for one person my not work as well for an other but I know a lot of people who have had good results with Lexapro.

Lexapro is the new improved version of Celexa and has a max dose of 20mg it is also the strongest of the ssri's which is why it has a low max dose and can be quite activating which is why I liked it so best to take in the morning because if you took it at night you would have sleep problems.

Hibee, I hate that most docs tell you to take it at night. I've been doing that since last August.

Last night I decided to try taking it in the mornings instead. I slept for the first time in a while. I slept hard! Now, I have been emotionally exhausted, so it could be that my body just crashed, but we'll see.

I'm going to continue with this little experiment, and see if it continues to help more. Thanks for the suggestion.
