Starting Clonazepam

I saw my primary today. We discussed my out of control anxiety, and the PTSD that is rearing it's ugly head.

She is starting me on clonazepam twice a day. We will increase to three times if necessary. I expressed my fear that I would procrastinate too much on taking a Xanax if I needed it. I also have pretty constant anxiety, because I am in pain all day every day. I'm so very limited on what I can take for pain, so I am just stuck with it until we can fix it.

I'm hoping that the steady dose will keep me on more of an even keel. Is anyone else on this type of med/dose?

Thoughts and experiences appreciated.

Hi jakes mom

I'm on clonazapam 0.5 mg for years now. I was taking it twice a day and have reduced it to once a day. When I do need that extra one I'll take it. I am also on celexa. Hope this helps

I'm on 1mg twice a day for now. I took one an hour ago, so we will see.

Sorry to hear you are having a tough time at the moment and are in pain I hope you find some relief soon.

I have never tried that medication but I have a friend who takes it and finds it really helpful so I hope it works well for you.

So I took one last night, and this morning. I'm feeling a little "slow" or "droopy" for lack of better words. Having a little dizziness with it, and unsteady on my feet. I think it will pass as I adjust to the med.

It is helping some with my anxiety in that I'm not vibrating today.

Went to the gyno this morning, and discussed options. All seem to have so many side-effects and risks, so will talk with hubby today, and will most likely decide on full hysterectomy.

Gyno says I need to get approval from neurosurgeon for me to be upside down on the table for an extended period of time due to my neck issue. I see him Tuesday, so will talk with him then.

Gyno also said she will do the surgery as long as my hemoglobin stays at an 8 or above. She will have blood available to give me during surgery.

I"m so sorry you are going thru all this, it is hard enough to deal with just the anxiety and when you add in medical issues it can get the best of you. I know this as I have a list a mile long of health issues. But you will get thru this, and we are here for you every step of the way.

Remember to use your coping skills, and I hope the side effects of the Clonazepam wear off and it works well for you.

Sounds as if you are tolerating your start up well so far.:) What you are feeling as far as effects sounds normal....

Wow you have alot to contend with now. I loved your saying that you were not "vibrating" today. That's too funny. So true though-I totally get it.

I am on 1mg xanax twice a day. I usually have to take one when i get home from work at 4 as I am frazzled from being in the public and then I take one at bedtime so I don't wake up in the middle of the night in panic, which was happening to me.

Xanax is a perfect med for me. Have been on it for almost seven years now. The same dose. I am also allowed to take on as needed basis during the day but I don't want to take more than I am now. It really does calm me down well. It used to make me too tiered but after getting used to it now i find it just calming and not as sedating.

I hope it works well for you and my prayers are with you for your upcoming surgery.
(upside down? OMG)-I didn't know they did that!

Thanks, guys. I hope it levels out soon, because I feel a little confused. More so than usual.

Hahaha, Linda. I was a little surprised at the upside down part too. Guess they need to be all up in my business.

I really hope the surgeon gives me the okay on Tuesday. I don't want to put all of this off any longer.
